dark and twisted

I found this collection of psycho stories highly disturbing. After listening to them I feel unsettled and somewhat sick. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was good.

3 Psych Related Shorts

This book is three independent stories. 1. Serial murder and his victim 2. Psych med review hospital stay goes bad. 3. Murder and a family staying in a cabin. If the stories are connected, I missed it.
Narration is British and good. But more specific gender characterization would have facilitated my understanding. Does not seem to be related to Edgar Allen Poe book of the same title.

Murder Mystery Collection

Some of the short stories were very good, some just left me super confused. The narrator wasn’t good with different character voices which could have caused the confusion. I feel as though if the beginning and ending of each story was announced that would have helped.

Love the stories

I love the stories but have a hard time switching between people in the story when the same narrator is used for both people

Painful to listen too

Had I realized this book was written in first-person present I would have had second thoughts on listening to it. (I got it free) Not having looked at the length, I also didn’t realize these were all short stories.
I hate giving bad reviews, but the narrator trashes what might have been okay stories. Why? Aside from having a female narrate a both male characters in the first story, she drones on in a deadpan voice and doesn’t even bother to try differentiating between either character or any character for that matter. It took me several lines before my mind changed from ‘The killer is married?’ to ‘Crap, we’re in a cops head now’. Followed up by, is he divorced and gay, or is the partner he’s talking about his buddy from the job… or both?
The girl tied to a chair doesn’t sound at all scared but bored to tears.
The only murder taking place in these stories is the narrator.
The second story is truly awful. The number of things wrong is too many to count, and it’s not the narrator’s fault.
I'm not wasting time on the third.
