Acerca de esta escucha

Mark Apostolos should be able to have any man he wants. Handsome and smart, he's also cripplingly shy, especially around attractive men. Tired of waking up alone, he's desperate to conquer his insecurities and have a real, meaningful relationship.

He gets his first opportunity when he tags along to his sister-in-law's dance class and lays eyes on the sexy instructor. Seth Miller has a way of moving that takes his breath away. It isn't long before sparks fly and they share a steamy kiss, but Seth wants much more than just a casual encounter.

If Mark wants a real relationship with Seth he'll have to come to terms with his sexuality - but will it be enough to break through the walls he's built up around his heart?

I absolutely loved this story! Character development is good, a realistic & well thought out plot is there, and it definitely tugs on your heartstrings multiple times. My only complaint is that there’s not really an ending. It just stops. It’s an essay with an introduction and a middle part, but no concluding paragraph. Sure, the reader can make some guesses or assumptions but it would’ve been nice to have that given to us. Don’t get me wrong! Like I said before it’s a wonderful story and I’ve listened to it multiple times!

The narrator was neither horrible nor extraordinary. He was average in every way. He’d get 2.5 stars out of 5.

Great story, but where’s the ending?..

Any additional comments?

This story was very easy to listen to. It managed to keep a light and pleasant tone despite dealing with some heavy topics like anxiety, coming to terms with being gay and dealing with loved ones being away for war. But it also never felt like those problems were not real or important.
All in all a lovely little story.

Nice little story

Story was ok... Not bad, not wonderful either... Narration was not bad but not wonderful either. It was hard to tell which character was speaking at times... which happens alot with male narrators... which is ok... for m/m romance I think. I kinda with there was more smexing going on ...but the main character, not the dancer was all shy and nervous all the time which made him .... what is the word.... kind of dorky... but his character isn't written in a dorky way... which is really misleading. Then when they finally do have some sort of smex...he runs out... WHAT! OMG!!! I was so mad... I think I skipped like 2 chapters b/c I got bored...so...

A good credit... not a buy... a great sale book!

Story ok... Narration could be better

I am sure this is a great book like the reviews state....however I suffer from Anxiety almost as bad as the main character.....when the main character starts having anxiety/panic attacks my own anxiety skyrocketed. Sadly I had to stop because, let’s be honest, I can barely handle my own anxiety.

So if you, like myself, have anxiety issues I’d suggest skipping. It may get better farther in but I couldn’t continue. I gave it full stars because my issues shouldn’t reflect on the book.

Anxiety

This was a pretty good book. It involved a good looking guy who was smart and stable but very shy. He was crippling shy. He's also gay, and has huge issues dealing with other gay men he finds attractive. He's been accomplishing his sexual need in an unfulfilled manner at gay bars behind alleys and such. His younger brother is heading off to Afghanistan and his pregnant wife is experiencing complications. Enter Mark, he moves in with his sis in law to 'take care of her'. While there, he finds himself deeply attracted to Seth, a former dancer who now teaches Zumba at the local gym. He pretends to be his brother (the one in Afghanistan) in an attempt to not reveal much of himself to Seth due to his crippling shyness. He eventually starts corresponding with Seth via email, which leads to phone conversations and eventually physical contract. Over time, Mark's shyness slowly fades and his love for Seth, and surprisingly Seth's love for him slowly develops.

I have to tell you that this was one of the slowest moving coming out stories. I truly enjoyed Seth's parts of the novel. He was such a good guy. He wasn't perfect even if people saw him as such. He went out of his way to make Mark comfortable with himself and with the growing attraction between him and Mark. I have to say, I have yet to meet so patient a guy.

I really enjoyed their process, but wished it sped up a bit. I also wanted to know what happened with the brother who was stationed in Afghanistan. AND the other couple... I really hate unexplained endings. But, I was happy that Mark finally came to terms with himself. We can only wish that for ourselves and others.

Charlie Belmont is one of my favorite male narrators, so I'm always pleased with his performance, and this book is no different.

Happy listening!

Slow, but sweet coming out story

i found little about this sad, panicked man who was so freaked out about his sexuality, he lied to everyone, including himself. I didn't find the main character, Mark, particularly sympathetic. Nor did I enjoy the screwed up machinations he tortured himself with, his lies of omissions, his refusal to live any kind of normal life and the way he hurt others. Mark was so self abosrbed and filled with such self loathing, I couldn't buy any kind of miraculous acceptance of himself or Seth. This wasn't for me.

I like the fact that's short but full of detail. interesting since the very beginning.

Very interesting story, short and detail.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. The story flows well, has funny moments and the narrator is well spoken and easy to listen to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Moving in Rhythm?

I don't have a memorable moment, but the way that Seth hangs in there gives me the warm fuzzies for romance.

Another great listen!

The story held my attention and was easy to listen to, although it's a verrry slooow burn romance. Focus is on character development, mainly Mark's inner journey to self-acceptance. The social anxiety he has to overcome made the story line more memorable.

I wish there was an epilogue, though, to see the larger friend and family circle all together again. The story just ends after Mark and Seth get together, and the supporting characters only get implied future reunions that we don't get to share.

The narration was quite good and increased my enjoyment of this book.

Nicely developed characters, easy listening
