About this listen

Malibu Creek State Park is a beautiful locale for campers, tourists, hikers, and Hollywood. For Detective Eve Ronin, it’s a backdrop for murder in a riveting thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Goldberg.

For decades Malibu Creek State Park was the spectacular natural setting where Hollywood fantasies were made. But when a female camper is gunned down, it becomes a real-life killing ground. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives Eve Ronin and Duncan Pavone are assigned the case...which Duncan fears is the latest in a series of sniper attacks that began long before Eve came to Lost Hills.

Seven victims over fourteen months...and top officials still refuse to see a connection. Eve and Duncan are stonewalled, threatened, and ordered to keep quiet. But Eve won’t back down. She’s no stranger to intimidation or corruption—she’s had a target on her back from day one at Lost Hills station.

Despite finding no evidentiary links between the shootings, Eve and Duncan follow their instincts into the shadows of Malibu Creek, where it’s not enough to expose the secrets and break the conspiracy of silence. They also have to make it out alive.

Another Great Book in the Series

Good book, interesting plot. Narrator does a good job. The only issue I have with the Eve Ronin series is her similarity to Eve Dallas series by JD Robb. Enough differences to avoid a lawsuit, but a bit more originality (and a different name) would have been appreciated.

The funniest book of the series so far!

Love the narrator's Italian Dunkin accent! All of Dunkin's jokes are ROFL! I hope he is staying for the rest of the series. I died laughing when the naked hippie threatened to explode the house by turning on the gas stove tops XD XD XD Brilliant! XD

Love This Series

I love the interaction between the young inexperienced but smart as a whip Eve Ronin and the older grumpier partner Duncan who loves to eat even more than me! I find humor in their dialogue while being intrigued with the murder mystery. This one did have a lot of suspects and I would get confused from time to time as to who was who but it did not take away at all from my enjoyment. I can’t wait for the next installment! This is a fun series and the narrator is excellent!

Good but sometimes that shoulder boulder...

I really enjoyed most of the story by Eva drove me insane a bit of the time. LG has written a character with a boulder on her shoulder which leads he to make some serious TSTL decisions.

I hope that the next installment has her chipping away at the boulder as she is very unlikable much of the time. Her partner and the Medical Examiner are both great!

Exciting!

I absolutely enjoyed this next book...a fast paced, high quality mystery following a lady detective, set on the edges of glamorous Hollywood. The characters are compelling, and I'll definitely read more books in the series.

Great police procedural - a fun listen !

“Movieland,” Lee Goldberg’s fourth novel featuring Ronin, is every bit as good as the first three. People who are looking for solid police procedurals with engaging characters and great plots would do well to hop on the Eve Ronin train now (or jump back to book one, Lost Hills !
