About this listen
Some memories are better forgotten.
Enjoying his day off, Deputy Brody Katz made the catch of his life while fishing in the South Platte River. The beaten woman had been shot and was on the brink of death by the time her body made it to the riverbank. When she wakes, she has no recollection of who she is, where she came from, or why someone tried to kill her.
The powerful people who want her dead will do whatever it takes to finish the job they started. They even manage to block the sheriff’s office in their attempts to locate her identity. Even if they must kill everyone getting in their way, they’ll stop at nothing to ensure she is dead.

Lacing romance and trust with uncertainty and fear!
The saying “you get what you pay for” doesn’t just apply to home projects, in the case of “Mountain Retreat” the cheaper the hired gun, the more poorly the job gets done. But, unlike a home project, a woman’s life is at stake in this fast-paced and thrilling read.
An unsuspecting woman is tracked from baggage claim to her death, or so Jeff Doyle thought. Ex-police officer, forced to resign over misconduct, didn’t quite finish the job. Finding her alive and chasing her off a cliff into the South Platte River was supposed to be the end of it, again. But, off duty Deputy Brody Katz got more than he bargained for when he spots her at his fishing hole clinging to life. With no memories, and no idea how she got there, Brody is the only one she trusts. As more hired guns come in to finish the job, will Brody’s Mountain Retreat keep her safe until her identity and the killers’ motives come to life? The clock is racing in this heart pounding crime thriller.
Author Michael Merson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the page. Having served in the Army and as a Colorado Spring police officer his scenery and action sequences are authentic and realistic. Challenging readers to uncover the truth before our Jane Doe’s time expires, Merson leads us on a thrilling fight to the finish. Weaving romance and trust, with uncertainty and fear the emotions play off the page.
Lacing romantic suspense with crime and thrills. Deputy Brody Katz and our Jane Doe, or Memory as she’d prefer to be called, make for great romantic leads as their personalities shine through in their dance to uncover the truth behind Memory’s identity.
Merson gives readers senators, bodyguards, old friends, and cartel as the financial injections continue to pile up in ensuring the job is completed. “Mountain Retreat” embraces the good versus evil, the corrupt versus the kind, in this whirlwind of adventure and fight to the finish.

Kept me guessing until the end
A nice little tale about an amnesia victim, people trying to kill her, and the good guys who protect her. Great story that had me wandering all the way until the last chapter who the girl was and why they were after her.
