About this listen

Recovering black market artifacts was already a dangerous business. And it just got worse.

When the Russian military invaded Ukraine, the world watched from the sidelines as shells rained down on homes, schools, businesses, and factories. But what the media didn't show us was a sinister plot carried out by a rogue Russian unit.

In the frigid chill of winter, while the Russian army barreled into Kyiv, an elite band of fighters had a different target in mind. Led by a notorious Colonel, the rogue unit broke into the Ukrainian Museum of National History, and took every valuable artifact connecting the country to its Scythian past.

Enter Dak Harper.

On the run, both hunter and hunted. He learns of the museum theft. But this is one mission he can't handle on his own. With more danger than he's ever faced, his life isn't the only one that hangs in the balance.

From the streets of Kyiv to the mountains of Romania, and into the hills of Hungary, Dak must use every contact he can muster to track down the Russian thieves.

But the Russians aren't the only enemy he must face when Dak's past comes full circle.

This fast-paced crime thriller with thousands of 5-star reviews by USA Today bestselling author Ernest Dempsey will have you ripping through the pages as Dak Harper races to solve the mystery, recover the artifacts, and save a town from its oppressor.

Fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp, Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt, Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne, and James Patterson's Alex Cross will enjoy the Relic Runner Series.

Love the Author but hate the Virtual Voice!

I tend to enjoy Dempsey's stories, but this is now my 3rd book I'm trying to enjoy but the Virtual Voice interferes. It's not just that it has no personality, but it also mispronounces words at crucial times that brings you out of the story and focused on the reading.
I don't think I will be trying any more until the process improves dramatically.

not bad, kind of odd

virtual voice cant do accents. too bad, although when i read a book i dont get accents either. thats what this is, like reading the story. pronunciation got better after the first couple chapters.
i didnt hate it because this series is good. i only tried this because i like the series and had already read the book. i will try virtual voice again only if the author is one that like.

Great story bad reading

This was an early attempt at taking advantage of AI to read the book and unfortunately it detracted from the experience. The AI often had the wrong inflections and worst of all couldn’t say the name of the main character correctly, his name is Dak but the AI pronounced it Doc for the whole book.

HORRIBLE AUDIO

The story itself was pretty good as is most of the Dak Harper stories, but the audio of this was just horrible. very mondaine and monotone

Don't waste you time

The virtual voice is monotonous and boring. I tried getting into it because the story sounded like something I would enjoy. Then I had to listen to the Ukraine vs Russian propaganda throughout. Most people don't understand that the US has done the same thing as Putin but our leaders are never blamed or called Tyrants when in fact, that is exactly what they are.

Moscow Sky

The flat tone of the narrator. Now I understand why. An A.I. might be cheaper or less troublesome, but an A.I. has NO
Feelings and thus…a miserable substitute for a human narrator. Too bad!
