Tiffini Kilgore
About this listen
Too often, the world speaks words of harm, and too often, we believe them - and so we live stories God never intended for us. Yet God longs to rewrite and redeem your story.
Tiffini Kilgore, founder of the lifestyle and design boutique House of Belonging, grew up in a broken home before marrying at the tender age of 16. Years later, divorced and with three small children, she remarried. The seasons that followed brought two more children, another broken marriage, chronic disease, major surgeries, and cycles of abuse - leaving Tiffini feeling alone and unloved.
Hungry for healing and a safe space, Tiffini began seeking Jesus through journaling and soon found bread crumbs of grace leading her down a new path. There, she found a rich table set for misfits just like her - a place of nourishment and restoration. Where she was fed lies of worthlessness, God fed her truth that she was his treasured daughter. Where she was told she was a helpless victim, God offered her the cup of his strength. Where she once held an empty future, God gave her hope and a fresh start. In cultivating an ongoing dialogue with her abba father, God transformed Tiffini's pain into passion and ultimately, fierce belonging.
Tiffini writes as a modern-day mystic, with lyrical force and deep tending of the soul, in this audiobook for anyone who has ever felt out of place or at odds in the world. Each chapter features compelling narrative as well as a poignant response from "Papa" God, as Tiffini calls him, and the result is a stirring invitation to come home to where you belong. Come and sit, take and eat, and join the battle cry to take God at his word.

You love, give, and pour out your life for the ones who call you Momma. But no matter how much you offer, there are still days you feel as though you come up short. Story
Christians love to talk about how God is in control, but that’s harder to grasp when things aren’t going like you thought it would, when your life looks quite different than you imagined. In the back of my mind, God reminds me that he is the same trustworthy God - the one who always finishes the stories he starts. And this is my story - of wrestling with our God who gives a limp and a blessing. A God who is always kind even when my circumstances feel the opposite.

Story
God's love, plans, and promises for you are forever unfolding. I get it, Momma. I totally get it. Every day you wake up and try your very best. You love, give, and pour out your life for the ones who call you Momma. But no matter how much you offer, there are still days you feel as though you come up short. You worry, "Am I loving these babies enough? Is this ever going to get easier? Why does it seem like I am the only one who cannot balance it all?" Sometimes we just need hope (and maybe a long, uninterrupted nap).

Story
He Speaks in the Silence is the story of Diane Comer's search for the kind of intimacy with God every woman longs for. It is a story of trying to be a good girl, of following the rules, of longing for a satisfaction that eludes us. Disappointed with all Diane had been told was supposed to fulfill her, she begged God in desperation to give her more. And he did. But first he took her through a trial so debilitating it almost destroyed what little faith she had. He let her go deaf.

In her best-selling memoir North of Normal, Cea wrote with grace about her unconventional childhood - her early years living in a tipi in Alberta with her pot-smoking, free-loving counterculture family. But her struggles do not end when she leaves her family at the age of 13 to become a model. Honest and daring, Nearly Normal reveals the many ways that Cea's unconventional childhood continues to reverberate through the years.

Do we love people like Jesus loves them?Jesus loved verbs. He loved action words such as live, come, rest, learn, hear, give, go, and even die. Wouldn’t it make sense that the people who claim to follow Jesus would love the same words Jesus loved?Unfortunately, somewhere along the way someone tried to make the word Christian an adjective. So now people speak of "Christian" books and "Christian" music and "Christian" schools.

Great Story and Message
I loved the story and I feel like Jill (female voice) got better as the book went on but I had a very hard time with Marc (God's voice). His voice was low and almost emotionless so his parts sounded...kind of creepy. I almost stopped listening because of his voice alone. I'm glad I didn't because the story is great.

Great story!
The gentleman who reads the voice of God is very difficult to listen to, while the reader of Tiffani is excellent!

A Heart's Cry for Intimacy with God
A different type of story than I've ever heard both in the way it's told and in its conclusion. I enjoyed it because I can relate to the lifelong search for healing, purpose, and intimacy with the Father.

Save A Seat For Me!
Listening to Tiffini tell her story from the very beginning gave me chills because my story also begins in utero. So many of us have been parented from generations of doing the best we can with what we know. Life is so short; why waste time trying to figure out who or what to blame? I share much in common with Tiffini. I was a bit leary with the book being classified as Christian Non-Fiction. I am not a Christian. I am spiritual. The unique way the story is told made it easy for me to replace Christian-based thought with my thoughts. Tiffini is taking small action steps to improve her life, despite the “dis-ease” That will hopefully begin to heal with her newly discovered . I look forward to Tiffini’s next book to see what happens at the table.

Not What I Expected, Likely Better as a Book
I was not able to get through this one and I was really sad to not be able to get through this as the topic greatly interested me. This is a very close personal point of view perspective that almost felt like performance art when it's narrated. This is going through the author's life from first person perspective starting in her childhood speaking as a child who is experiencing her life and a male voice as a fatherly God who was talking to her throughout these experiences. This would be very different if I was reading this as a book but having it narrated to me was painful trying to get through and I could not make it past an hour and I've been trying to listening to this piecemeal for months at this point. The level of personal writing is lovely and I normally would not write a review for a piece I didn't finish but I did want to put out there how the content is set up for folks who might not enjoy such an audible and prefer to read the text instead. And also that this is less a self-development book where an adult is reflecting on past experiences and questions these experiences created and more of a personal account of someone's ongoing conversation with God as you listen to their diary entries from their entire life.
