Body image issues

I really loved the narrator Melanie Fraser she is a narrator that I will look for again. I thought this book was funny and well written. My problem was with Andi. I'm not sure what size Andi is but she has a really bad body image. I understand this. I have never had a weight problem and am a size 4 but I feel like I am a size 18. So I can relate but my problem was not one chapter in the whole book doesn't have Andi not dwelling on this. It was just to much for me.
I received this book for free with the understanding that I would give an honest review.

Good but sad

I received this book for free in order to get an honest review. And while I like the story I. General. I could not help but be sadden by the constant tone of the book to refer to all fat people as gross or in some other terrible way. The main character is herself battling her own weight problem which is throughout the whole book thrown in your face as a terrible plight she can't get away from. She talks of her childhood of being teased, stood up for dates, a husband that cheated on her for skinner women, wanting to commit suicide and her constant insecurities. It's all so sad. Only reason I could not rate it higher was because of that. This is not a book for those who suffer from low self esteem or depression. It ends on a positive note but not because the author changes the character into a skinny person. Not going to spoil it for anyone but No, the people that matter accept her the way she is.

Misadventures of Fatwoman

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”

The female protagonist Andi, suffers from low self esteem. She has a great husband, good kids and a wonderful job. She is over weight, so she sees herself as lacking. A lot of women have this problem as society as a whole judges for "differences." The author did a great job showcasing this with a bit of humor too.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.

Not sure what to say....

In a world full of body shaming it's really sad to read a book about a woman who hates her body so much. I actually couldn't even tell what the size of the main character was. Characters tell her that she's beautiful and her husband thinks she's irresistible..... yet all she can talk about is how fat every single part of her body is. I wanted to love this book but I just liked it. I've been every size from a size 3 to a size 18 and I know how hard it is to love my body. I know how often I criticize every part of it. So while that was truthful and honest you still wanted her to realize how fabulous she was. I don't think that there was a single chapter that she didn't talk about her weight.

Body issues

I received this book for free from the author/narrator for free for an honest and unbiased review.

Not much of a plot just a book about body issues. And I is unhappy with her body and we learn from her childhood how she has struggled with her weight and how it has affected her. Her husband and kids do not seem to mi d her weight but she is obsessed with it. This is more of an inspirational type book instead of a plot driven book.
The narration was great, British accent--well done!

Happy Reading/Listening!!!

Fun and touching

I love that the main character has self-esteem issues beyond those of poor body image. The weight issue is handled with humor (sometimes a cringing humor as the main character berates herself) but also with a note of tenderness. The neurosis that often goes along with a morphed body image is portrayed with thehelp of supporting characters (such as no one else really sees her as fat or certainly not as fat as she thinks she is).
The story was secondary to the characters which is kind of okay with me, especially with such interesting characters. I would love to see more characters revealed through this author. I think she balances out the traits nicely. The story was good, though. The pace was good as well and I obviously cared about all the characters. The narrator did a really great job with the different voices and can tell a story well.

Not as humorous as I thought it would be

Any additional comments?

Learning to love yourself and the body your in.

Andi has low self esteem about her appearance/weight. Something many woman can relate to at one time or another in their life. Woman are their own worst enemies when it comes to self criticism.

While there are some funny and humorous situations in the story, honestly I expected this to be more humorous. I just felt sad for Andi, no one should berate themselves that much. The sadness I felt for Andi and her self esteem issues through out the majority of the book depressed me.

Melanie Fraser did a good job with the narration. Great voices for all the characters male and female. Pleasant voice.
