Vampires have always lived in Eastern Europe. Sister Carolyn has become a formidable killer of cowboys and vampires. Joe's niece, escaped from the conquest of New York, has made her way south to find him. Brought together by Rabbi Zev Wolpin, who is shaken by the vampires’ fear of the cross and holy water, they plan their resistance. Against all odds, they discover that there just might be a way for humanity to really fight back. But first they will have to kill the vampire king of New York.

Christian super hero

You can smell the Christian libertarian all over this. He claims that he was inspired by Salems Lot inspired him, but the heart of the power of cross in Salem’s Lot is that it’s the power of belief that powers the cross wielded by the priest. Faith of ANY kind could defeat evil. The fact that Christian neighborhoods do better in this story just shows how loaded this story is. There are better books that involve Christian undertones. The story is ok other than that, a little corny but a fun concept. I was intrigued enough to finish, it could have used some nuance.

Not the best

I was hoping for a horror book. But this book turned out to be just a 1980 s vampire book. Werid sexual stuff in the whole book very little actually horror. I'm finished the book just hoping it would get better.

I reckon books are ALWAYS better than the shows..

I watched the Netflix series before I even knew about the book. I thought the series was great! I was surprised to find the book. In my opinion, they are two very different stories, but similar. Both were very good on their own merits.
The narrator was phenomenal! He made certain voices distinct and moved seamlessly from one character to the next. Terrific performance.
Overall, a refreshing perspective on an ageless subject .

this was spectacular

I saw some other less then nice reviews. I just want to say they're wrong. it was a good story, Love,Honor,etc. No it wasn't anti Semitic! just an old school Vampire story. It's not Homer but I was entertained. And when all is said and done isn't that what a good story is supposed to do I'd give it a chance .

Great vampire story!

A great listen while at work. An unexpected find and good vampire story overall. Definitely give it a try.

Not great, not terrible

Great potential to dive into philosophical constructs, but felt lacking. Liked that it wasn't a 'save the world' story. Narrator was OK.

Too predictable

Started off interesting. Then made me roll my eyes a lot. Human enemies were always just a bit smarter and more capable; even the stupid ones. Unrealistic lack of firearms in the U.S.

A good vampire read.

The book is like Salems lot if the story expanded past Jurselems lot. Very good read.
