The story is largely following an isekai'ed woman that goes to an alternate world 15 years in the past.

It could do without the family issues, but they dont break the story or anything.

there are also kinda large time skips that could have easily been used to fill in some of the rushed conversation. But it is difficult to write a story that is told in years timescale, so I get why the events were lumped together.

Surprisingly Good

While waiting on my So what I’m a spider and He who fights with monsters, and taking a break from Salvos I found this gem. I for one would highly recommend this series. The magic has tiers so it’s pretty easy to understand damage/defense output, with the right amount of action vs story IMO. Listened at x1.2, no regrets.

Go Team Cousins!!

Great story!!

the story has an interesting idea that is well executed. bit slow at times but this is balanced by the great character and dynamics. over all I can't wait to see the next book.

Solid story

Having read the series on Royal road, I wanted to share someove with the author and try the audible book. The narrator did bang up job reading and keeping the story lively. The world building is interesting. Basically a woman from modern Earth wakes up in her teenaged alternate self on an Earth that has had magic and demi humans. Of course she gets some unique powers and we get a magic school arc as she begins to master her magic.

Outstanding transmigrator story

The writing of this book is solid and overall I found the story engrossing and enjoyable. Comparing this book to a number of Lit RPG I've listened to, it holds up well. While not as number crunchy as many, there is overall level progression and as well as with different areas of magic. Then there is the added "muggle finds herself in a wizarding world" feel to it. The magic system itself is D&D based so might be slightly confusing at first if you're not already familiar with that.

Are there other issues with this book? Yes. The MC can be a bit annoying at times and the emotional issues a little heavy, but I didn't feel that detracted much from the story. In the end, this is about a 30 year old woman finding herself in her 15 year old body from parallel universe where magic is used instead of science. I thought it was an interesting twist and handled well.

My only real gripe is the narrator. To be fair she did a great job in the main but there were some stumbles and mispronunciations that could have been fixed. The real issue was the accent of the MC. Not sure if that is just a Sydney thing, but man, I kept thinking I was listening to Rebel Wilson. I like Rebel - she's a great actress and funny, but as the voice of the MC of a fantasy... well, perhaps it is just the accent of the area and I shouldn't complain, but it pulled me out of the story a little. Not a deal breaker though.

In summary, this is a first book for this author and in my opinion outperforms most in something of an overcrowded subgenre. Not quite at the level of "The Land" or "He Who Fights Monsters" but close. Well worth the credit and the listen.

D&D meets Hogwarts meets... Rebel Wilson?

Narration was great! Climax and story were everything I wanted in modern fantasy. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes d&d or modern fantasy, because it takes a well loved system of magic and has a unique take, along with a witty twist to how everything works.

Seriously, a great book. The inherent drawbacks to various types of magic , for example, is a beautiful stroke. Other than that, I wouldn't want to say more, for fear of spoiling stuff ;)

Something D&D lovers will like.

The story is intriguing and well thought out. The narration is fairly good as well. All in all if you like game lit or progression fantasy you probably won’t regret giving the book a try.

Easily Enjoyable.

This was a great story it’s like a web novel. The only bad thing about it is the Mc has insane choice options.

Power is here and there never knowing what her actual might is. This might kill a mouse but the next time it can’t even scratch a mouse.

Worth a credit just keep in mind it’s like a web novel.

Great story but!

This was a great book. I'm looking forward to the second book. I really like the reader. She is one of the best. I didn't want it to end.

I love the reader. The line was Great.

This should be the story about a teenage girl overcoming the issues of a troubled adolescents while also learning the darker truths of a magic based, semi post-apocalyptic society. And in many ways, it is. the issue is that the author added a gimmick that undermines every interaction and action the MC engages in.

spoilers

So, it's established pretty quickly that the MC is a self-made woman. Who after running away from a bad home life at 16. not only survived but managed to thrive. starting her own company. now, in her thirties, she suddenly finds herself inhabiting her 15 year old self on an alternate Earth. This is the central issue with the story. None of the characters' choices reflect this background. Everything she does fits with an inexperienced teenager trying to overcome the issues her parents instilled in her, while also coming to grips with her place in a magical society constantly on the brink of being destroyed. The result is that the character mocks her teenage companions in her head. then turns around and acts just like them. At no point does she act how you would expect the woman who cut out her toxic family as a teenager and is now the CEO of her own company to act. If the author had just refrained from adding a gimmick, which honestly feels like it was shoe horned in at the 11th hour, this would be a 4 star book.

ruined by poorly thought out gimmick.
