About this listen

Here's a unique twist on the Cinderella story. This is an amusing, wry tale of a king's son, a neighboring king's daughter, a sulky dragon - and the wise Greenman.©2009 American Listeners Theatre (P)2009 American Listeners Theatre Fairy Tales, Folk Tales & Myths King Royalty

Critic reviews

"Timothy Patrick Miller's voice is wonderfully gravelly and very satisfying. It is a perfect listening experience as Miller adeptly changes voices between characters and narrating. The quality of writing, storytelling, and production is stellar." (Trisha Rigsby, BWI Follett Library Resources)

4- Granddaughters - 1 Big Hit!

Ranging in ages 6 to 12, the heirs to my matriarchy sat the stillest I have ever seen them as we listened round the fireplace to this wonderful Irish lilt telling a different tale than many Faye folk tales. The heroin needed rescuing but wasn't the whimpering victim but more of a strong willed lass, the kind I like to give them to look up too. The baby asked "where are the pictures for this story"? I explained the difference between DVDs and audio and between TV/Movies and books...sad, but true. This the very best edition ever for introducing young children to books who have parents too busy to sit and read to them. In fact, this tale and the way it was told by the narrator is largely responsible for my 7 year-old taking a greater interest in reading in school. As soon as she learned there was a possible way for her to "ham it up" by reading aloud, it suddenly wasn't so bad after all and now she reads to me 2 or 3 times each week! Amazing what a little bit o' the Irish can do! This narrator is so awesome I went looking for other books by him as well! Share and enjoy twice the pleasure!
