About this listen

Achieving and sustaining success is difficult. Why do some people struggle to get started or stay the course? Why do others seem to sabotage their hard-earned victories? What makes some people stumble and fall when they seem to possess the requisite skills to soar? Most importantly, what can be done to change these patterns and their outcomes?

Based on years of research, Mastering Fear answers these questions and many more with its surprising perspectives on stress, fear, and the single most important skill necessary to achieve maximum results. Studies worldwide have tracked the lives of hundreds of individuals over decades in search of the foundations of excellence. Dr. Maurer has culled and refined this data, dispelling current myths and revealing practical strategies to maximize passion and performance in any individual, team, or organization.

This is an excellent book. Clearly the author has experience Counceling people who were children of adult alcoholics and or abused. I really took to heart why I’ve been successful... no, I didn’t do it on my own... yes I’ve failed, and I’ve embraced failure and learned from it each and every time. I’m trying to be a supportive team member, spouse, and friend. Often I even fail at that, but I learn each and every time from that.
Thank you for writing this book.

I bought this book thinking it will give me insight about being less fearful. Using kind of techniques.

It does not do that. Instead it gives a different perspective of fear. And kind of shows you how to handle it better here is a little summary.

If you are afraid - going for someone else to get support will lower your amigdala response and you will return to normal.

Rejection is not a bad thing in itself. The bad thing you fear about is the voice or story you have in your head. The author shows example and proves his point quite good. So if you change the voice you will have less fear.

These are the 2 main themes in this books which the author explores.
