Publisher's summary

Massacre: Minnesota Sioux Uprising outlines the Indian uprising of 1862 and explains how it came about. In less than an hour, you will meet the main participants, understand the various battles at New Ulm, Fort Ridgely, Birch Coulee, and Wood Lake, and learn more about the expulsion of the Native Americans from Minnesota. For those listeners who want to know more and understand how contemporary listeners learned about the uprising, we included several original accounts published in the St. Cloud Democrat, The Pioneer Press, and the Goodhue Volunteer.

It's not the complete story, but enough to bring you up-to-speed, understand the issues of the day, and maybe encourage you to explore more on your own.

Each book includes a timeline to help you understand the bigger picture so you can watch events unfold.

why don't they consult locals about pronunciation

while the accounts of the book have been researched, I always wonder why narrator's assume they know how to pronounce place names & native names. Mankato may have been pronounced with two short A's for the individual, the place name has a short a for the first & long a for the second. Flandreau is mispronounced as are other names. surely narrating is a tough job, but a little research could be helpful no

not great

You could honestly get the same information from wikipedia or glancing at a timeline of the events. There was ALOT of repeating the same facts unnecessarily over and over. The performance was pretty boring as well. Seemed maybe better suited for an adolescent doing a school report on the subject.
