About this listen

Now a major tv drama starring Martin Clunes.

What does it take to catch one of Britain's most feared killers?

Levi Bellfield is one of the most notorious British serial killers of the last fifty years - his name alone evokes horror and revulsion, after his string of brutal murders in the early 2000s.

At 3:07pm on 21st March, 2002, Milly Dowler left her school in Surrey for the last time. Less than an hour later, she was to be abducted and murdered in the cruellest fashion, sparking a missing person investigation that would span months before her body was found.

In the two years that followed, two more young women - Marsha McDonnell and then Amélie Delagrange - were murdered in unspeakably brutal attacks.

Yet with three murdered women on their hands, and few leads open to them, investigating officers were running out of ideas and options, until SIO Colin Sutton was drafted into the investigation for the murder of Delagrange. Seeing a connection between the three women, and thriving under the pressure of a serial killer hunt, Sutton was finally able to bring their murderer to justice after the case had begun to seem hopeless.

Manhunt tells the story of how he led the charge to find a mystery killer, against the clock and against the odds - day by day and lead by lead. At once a gripping police procedural, and an insight into the life of an evil man, this is the story behind what it takes to track down a shockingly violent murderer before he strikes again.

love it

The way an investigation lays out has always been interesting to me and this was lay down in a way that not only made sense but in my opinion kept the readers attention. I always thank God for every successful attempt to bring justice to those who are victimized be at the victim themselves but also everyone who knows and loves the victim as well as the ones who thought they knew the perpetrator. I can't imagine what it would take up a person on a personal level to commit to an investigation of this magnitude but it warms my heart to know that there are people all over the world still an existence who have a heart for their fellow man and woman and for right and wrong. if you haven't heard the story yet give it a chance. if you're addicted to true crime as I am this will meet your standard of effective storytelling.

The Very Best of Audible!

So well written and read that I could hardly put it down. Peter Noble’s narration transports you to the place and time like no other, short of Kevin Pierce. I will listen to this one again.

Quite well done

Definitely get the sense of proper British ways, which the narrator's telling serves to enhance. Written as meticulously as the process used to investigate and prosecute the case. Never got the sense that some other reviewers did of any conceit or self-aggrandizement in the author's writing. He did lead the team that found and ultimately put away a multiple murderer, so he's entitled to be proud of himself and his team. Good, short read.

I loved this book!

I picked this up because I had seen the television series starring Martin Clune and I am so glad that I did. This is extremely well written, very well edited so that the story moves quickly and there's no excess detail, and wonderfully narrated. Plus it's included in your premium membership, which for me was really nice since I tend to run out of credits almost as soon as I get them... highly recommended if you enjoy police procedurals.

Great book on serial killer/rapist Levi Bellfield

The lead investigator for the Levi Bellfield case in London England, former SIO Collin Sutton, does a thorough and brilliant job of explaining the Levi Bellfield case in (what was to me) a surprisingly entertaining way. There's even a few instances of humor included, which are also related. The narration was fantastic too.

Good Story - Great Narrator

Well written with just enough detail to not be tedious, made even better by the narration.

Yikes.

The author is one of the most insufferable, self-congratulatory knobs I’ve come across in a good while.

My mind keeps wandering while trying to listen

My mind keeps wandering while I'm trying to listen to this book. I have to keep going back and listen to sections again and again. Not my favorite book by far. It's just okay, not great.

Slow read and slowly read.

the way this book is read annoyed me. A lot of self boasting paragraphs etc. I did not find it interesting at all. Makes me wonder where are all the good ‘included in your membership’ book.
