The Greatest Philoso-dramedy of All Time

Shaw’s most accomplished comic philosophy. A magnificent text executed by the most expert actor-technicians. Bravo/a all.

A good time is guaranteed with this play

A wonderful performance by the actors especially Ralph Fiennes. Such a great masterpiece. Highly recommended.

Jack Tanner.

Chapters 8, 9 & 10: specific to the superman idea and conflict.

Listening to the Tanner character (magnificiently narrated by Ralph Fiennes).

Repeated the Jack Tanner's narration repeatedly to better understand the character.

Incredible quality

Shaw's plays are meant to be heard rather than read, and these actors deliver it beautifully. The production quality is beautiful and the ambiance is lovely. I used this audiobook to help me study Shaw for a class, and I highly recommend listening while reading along and taking notes in the margins if you really need to grasp the concepts. It really helped!
All that being said, the story is at times tough to sit through. It's boring to listen to some assorted Brits argue about a girl's use of nicknames. But that's just my personal taste-- Shaw is an incredible writer, and absolutely worthy of listening to.

An Entertaining Philisopical Farce

This play gives away entirely too many secrets and does so with wit and amazing timing. The second act is so full of philosophy as to be quite convincing as hell.

One of the best

This is one of the best radio/theatre performances out there in audiobooks, 2nd to none.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS "MY" BERNARD SHAW!!

I remember being very fond of Shaw as a teenager and a young woman--avid reader of plays and theatergoer. When I saw "Man and Superman" offered on Audible I bought it without thinking twice, hoping to plunge into the pleasure of enjoying again, after many years, the work of one of those Irish genius playwrights I love so much. GOOD HEAVEN, how horrible! Act 1 was good at first and soon lost texture and coherence. Everything that followed was but a slow, nonsensical descent into hell...and not only for the dramatis personae of this play.

Hard to follow off the stage

The performances of the actors was the only saving grace for this play. The choppy structure and the political statements being made by George Bernard Shaw when it leaves the stage.

What disappointed you about Man and Superman?

I simply expected more of Dame Judi- as she was given first billing in Audible's synopsis (in list of narrators).

Yes; the man was brilliant.

Opening scenes, I suppose. It does labor on toward the conclusion.
