About this listen

Left destitute and alone with her mother after her father abandoned them, Erin Saddler is shocked when she learns her mother has arranged for her to be a mail order bride to a Mr. Rich McNettle. But they are out of money, and marriage is their last chance for a stable life. So Erin agrees to travel west to wed this man she's never met. But when a stagecoach accident and a brave man step in to her destiny, she begins to believe that God has other plans for her.

Half white man and half Paiute, John Green is used to being shunned as an outcast. So when he meets lovely Erin on the coach headed west, he is shocked that she doesn't turn away from him. And after he saves her from a terrible accident, he is even more shocked to learn that he is beginning to love her. But Erin is engaged to be married to a man in town - the same man that hates John with all his heart.

With a battle looming between the Paiutes and the Army, and a battle raging in their own hearts, John and Erin are forced to take a stand that could save them all - or forever end their chance at happiness.

Good mail order bride short story

I'm always interested in short stories about mail order brides. I felt that this one needed a longer story to give more depth to the characters. What I did like about the story is that Faith Johnson gave the male love interest to an Indian, or half-breed as was stated in the story. Meghan Kelly did a good job narrating the story. I found her voice very pleasant to listen to, hearing the differences in characters and gender.
I was provided this audio book at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Good start for a series.

If you could sum up Mail Order Bride: The Surprise Bride Saved by the Heartbroken Indian in three words, what would they be?

Short and very sweet.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the strength of the characters.

Have you listened to any of Meghan Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I have listened to Meghan Kelly's other performance and this one is just a excellent as the others.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It moved me when the doctor calls John a half-breed and he says John knows what I mean. Labeling can be so hurtful.

Any additional comments?

This author has a good start to a series. Can't wait to listen to more.

A good listen but needs more deapth on the story

If you could sum up Mail Order Bride: The Surprise Bride Saved by the Heartbroken Indian in three words, what would they be?

To short for the type of story it is. It has such wonderful writing and plot but needs to be longer to make it a more believable story

What does Meghan Kelly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The emotion of each characters, she brings feeling into the read giving it a meaning.

Any additional comments?

This is a story about pain from a father abandoning his family and an Indian who has felt nothing from most of the white man but painful hurtful words. This was a wonderful plot and a great base for a story however it was way too short and too fast for the type of story it is. I loved the characters and the meaning behind the story this just moved to fast.

Ms. Kelly as the narrator I thought did a wonderful job her voice is clear and even tone. I felt she did a wonderful job on her character voice and their emotions. I heard no background noise just a clear and clean audio. There was one place where she repeated her words my guess is this is when she took a break. It is noticeable but doesn’t take away from the audio at all. There are a few places where her natural voice that she sounds like she is reading or more robotic. It is not that way throughout the book just in places. I have listen to some of Ms. Kelly’s samples in audios which I found a few to be this way but not all. I am guessing some are earlier work and other is later work which she has grown in. I found this to be a wonderful narration with a few bumps but nothing that takes away from the listen which is very enjoyable. Her character voices are outstanding you have no trouble understanding who is talking and what they are feeling. Her male voices are as pleasant as her female ones. She brings the audio alive painting a picture that you can see clearly in your mind. I am very much looking forward to listening to more audios by this narrator.

I feel this story could have been so much more had it been longer giving the main characters time to get to know each other. I felt they fell in love to fast not truly knowing much at all about each other. I do understand with a mail order bride they go on good faith to men they do not know very well hoping to make a love match or at least find someone they can live with. Had this been that kind of story I would have agreed to a shorter story. Since this was to a man she had never met or wrote to I find it a little hard to believe. I did find the story to have character with a truly wonderful meaning and lesson behind it. It is very painful to watch how some people are treated. Sometimes it is easier to go along with others than to make a stand. I understand why her attended felt and did the things he did it was nice to see him take a stand and be the man he became. I would enjoy reading more of this authors work but feel for the type story the page count does not do it justices. The author puts so much emotions and feeling into her stories. She gives so much to the reader and really is a wonderful writer with a lot of talent. The story just needs to be longer to fit in what is missing. This is a wonderful sample of a really good author. I do hope to see her make her stories longer with more time for love to come. I enjoyed the audio and felt it was worth my time.

There Isn't Much Mystery...The Title Reveals Most☑

Mail Order Bride: The Surprise Bride Saved by the Heartbroken Indian........☑

The title of this book pretty much envelops everything contained within it. As with most mail order bride books, Erin is left destitute. Her mother found a man who has agreed to marry Erin, through deceit.

Erin is a stagecoach accident, she is saved from injury due to the quick thinking of John Green (1/2 white and 1/2 Indian).

Now Erin doesn't know what to do to fulfill her destiny… She leans on her faith in God for the right outcome.

I found the book a bit of a disappointment because there was little more then what the title proclaims. So 2 Stars for story.

Meghan Kelly is almost perfect. She is an exceptional performer. 5 Well deserved stars.

Overall 3 stars...the average of performance and story.

worth your time to read

this was a wonderful story I got it for free in order for review and it was a wonderful story I have to say that I loved it it was very good wholesome and what I love the most is that they remember to keep God first and they prayed and got answered their prayers not in the way that they thought it needed to be answered but anyway God knew it needed to be answered and I love how she was able to get Rick to see his mistakes and he wound up finding a woman who truly loves him and it just happens to be a pirate who he was cursing and hating not but a while ago but God worked it out for everyone and they're good in the end and it was a sweet romantic story and I just loved it and I'm going to definitely will listen to it again and if I'm able to listen to the rest of the story I most certainly will
