About this listen

When her parents died, Molly McGregor did what she needed to survive in New York City all alone. She took a job for a well-respected banker, but made a discovery that put her life in danger. Now, in 1882, she is fleeing New York for the western frontier. Molly makes the desperate decision to become a mail order bride in Tombstone, Arizona Territory. She doesn't hope for much, just that her new husband will be strong enough to protect her from the danger she fears will follow.

Ben King was too busy making his fortune in silver to worry about a wife or family. Now he's rich, well known, owns half the town of Tombstone, and is utterly alone. When his heart becomes entangled with his best friend's new wife, he decides drastic action is required and contracts a mail order bride. He requests someone plain, someone simple to warm his hearth and home, someone he can be sure won't rouse his passion or complicate his life. He's tired of fancy women chasing him for his money, and even more tired of hoping any woman could be different. He doesn't believe in true love, and doesn't want the complications that would come with it. He doesn't have time for complicated. He has an empire to run.

But Molly is a shock to his senses. She doesn't care about his money or his fame. All she wants from him is a safe haven, security, and a new last name. Ben tries to keep his heart out of danger, but danger seems to be Molly's middle name. When a rich and powerful enemy chases his beautiful new bride halfway across the country to extract vengeance, Ben discovers his heart is not nearly as cold as he'd hoped. Their passion fires hot, hot enough to kill...more than hot enough to burn them both.

Story moves quickly.

What did you love best about Mail Order Baron?

That Molly finally won.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Molly had the patience of a saint. She tried to do the right thing even when she was hurting.

Which character – as performed by Lia Frederick – was your favorite?

Molly

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The struggle for love.

Any additional comments?

This was a good story but hard to put into words. Molly had to fight to live after running from a man who wanted her dead. Then she marries "the Baron" who was still carrying a love torch for another woman. The narrator conveyed the hurt, that Molly suffered, very well.

Will Ben and Molly Marry?

Ben sent for a Mail Order Bride, Molly was running for her life. Would they really find the love they each wanted?

Life was not so easy for this couple. Molly was very jealous even though she tried not to be, but she knew he was in love with another woman.

Ben did not want to love Molly but he liked her very much and wanted to marry her. Did they marry? What would their life be like?

oh no, someone was after Molly, who and why? Can anyone save her? To find out what happens I highly recommend that you get this excellent Audiobook and listen to it yourself or read the book.

It's exciting and emotional and I just know you will enjoy it as much as I have. The narrator was amazing and of course she put much feelings into her reading. You will enjoy listening to her too.

Baron book 3 The Brides of Tombstone

Better than book 1, not as good as book 2. Narration was good. All in all I would say this collection was ok. Not bad, not great. I have read much better.

Two people who need more than they know

One Man wants a wife, one woman must get out of town, sometimes a marriage of convenience is just what the doctor ordered. I really enjoyed the suspense, danger, and true emotions the author gives these characters. Ben fell in love with his best friends girl, needing to move on he places an ad for a bride. Molly must get out of town, she saw something she should not have and have men after her. Ben is an alpha male, Molly is use to standing on her own, together they make a pair but first they must overcome some major issues.

Lia Frederick as the narrator did a wonderful job I love her many voices. The male ones were just as great as her female ones. Her normal voice is very pleasant I could listen to her all day. There are not background noises, no volume changes or break in the audio just a wonderful clean and clear audio which you will enjoy from start to finish. She puts feeling and emotion in her audios never leaving you guessing how each character feels. You can hear the pain, sorrow, passion in her voice she has a very calm smooth voice which is easy to listen to. She truly made this an audio to enjoy.

Love Is Staring At Your Face! Grab it!

What made the experience of listening to Mail Order Baron the most enjoyable?

I liked Molly the best! She was strong, yet vulnerable and very loyal even though there were times I wanted to yell, "Run away!". She saw the good in Ben and was patient for him to see that he did not really want what he thought he wanted.

What about Lia Frederick’s performance did you like?

She did a great job with the different voices. I liked her in this one much better than the first book.

Any additional comments?

Love got away from Ben King with the last woman he had eyes for, but he needed heirs for his kingdom. His friend found true love and happiness with a mail-order-bride, so why couldn't Ben? Knowing that his heart would forever be someone else's, Ben still sends for a bride, hoping that she can handle a loveless marriage.

Molly needed an escape from a man she helped put in prison and was just released. She runs into the arms of the Baron of Tombstone, Arizona hoping that she would not only find protection but also find love.

Both have to learn to trust and let go of secrets that will only cause more pain and suffering in their fragile relationship. Can Ben learn to love another woman? Can Molly be honest and allow Ben to protect her? Can both learn what it means to give rather than take?

Cynthia delivers another wonderful book by focusing on one of the minor characters in Mail Order Doctor. The story kept me on my toes as Ben was a frustrating character for me because one momentI was rooting for him and the next I wanted to shoot him! Cynthia wrote a wonderful, complex journey Ben to discover what really mattered to him. I really liked who he became by the end. :) I hope there is a fourth book in the series! Maybe get a bride for Gil? ;) Great job, Cynthia!

The only caution I have for this book is that is "spicier" than the other two books if that is something that a reader is sensitive to.

This audible was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Story deserved a better performance...

I rarely listen to books, prefering to read. However, I have enjoyed this author's books so I wanted to listen to this book. (I have read the previous two novels in the series.)

The book is steamy, a bit more early on than in the previous two books in the series. That doesn't bother me, but I have always been able to like the characters in the series. I did not like Molly, the novel's heroine. Lia Frederick's performance made her more unlikable for me. She depicted her as whining and crying throughout the entire story. Also, Frederick made too many of the characters speak with a southern accent, even the villian who was from New York. (I received a coupon code to listen to this book with the understanding that I would give an honest, unbiased review.)
