Acerca de esta escucha

Award-winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky's Made Things is dark fantasy tale of how the most unlikely characters may become the most heroic.

Making friends has never been so important.

Welcome to Fountains Parish - a cesspit of trade and crime, where ambition curls up to die and desperation grows on its cobbled streets like mold on week-old bread.

Coppelia is a street thief, a trickster, a low-level con artist. But she has something other thieves don't...tiny puppet-like companions: some made of wood, some of metal. They don't entirely trust her, and she doesn't entirely understand them, but their partnership mostly works.

After a surprising discovery shakes their world to the core, Coppelia and her friends must re-examine everything they thought they knew about their world, while attempting to save their city from a seemingly impossible new threat.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Fleeting and rich, Made Things is the work of a highly skilled artist, almost certain to engender its reader with an enduring fondness." (Aurealis Magazine)

"Thieves, mages, and miniature golems run afoul of each other in this charming novella set in a steampunk fantasy world.... The dashingly roguish cast, clever prose, and well-placed moments of heartfelt emotion are sure to delight." (Publishers Weekly)

"Tchaikovsky at the top of his form." (Booklist)

Great! Need more installments!

Wonderful to hear the author read his work. Fun story and world that I hope he visits again soon.

Nice little story

This was a nice little novela. I am constantly impressed with the variety of work Adrian Tchaikovsky can put out. Interesting premise and world. I wouldn't mind works in this world, but it isn't my favorite of the author's.

Unusually original

It is not very often when one comes across an original story. This one is. Was not expecting a heist story, which I love.

Its almost unfair

That the author/narrator is such a talented storyteller. While short, this is wonderfully rich and engaging tale, and its beautifully narrated.

The horrible ending.

The overall story in this book starts off as a fascinating glimpse into another point of view.

This story is perfect

As soon as I finished this book I started it over. I wanted to catch all the little details and the delightful language. I may wait a week And listen to it again.

Fantastic story, fantastic narrator, just fantastic all the way around.

Wish it was longer

Really cool story and world. I just wish it hadn’t ended so quickly. I loved the Borrowers as a kid and this really reminded me of that but with a different twist.

Fun, creative, kind of creepy but loved this!

This is a fun, creative and a bit creepy tale of young woman with a bit of magic that repairs “puppets” that have come to life. Narrator does a really good job setting the fast pace. The characters are perfect for this story. Sneaks in a surprise ending too!

Great Short Story!

I really enjoyed this story, and (the author) Adrian Tchaikovsky's narration was perfect. It was short enough to enjoy in a day, but developed character interest and had enough world-building for any subsequent stories in this world to be an automatic purchase for me. This makes me also look forward to reading/listening to AT's Children of Time series.

Great fun

The Borrowers meets Nine, replete with social commentary. I heartily recommend this book to parents of mid-to-late teens raising their children with awareness of classism, courage, and joy in magic. As an adult, I could only ask for a sequel, but I don’t know that it’s needed.
