Good series just needed more action.

Was a good series and all but, there it just needed a little more action. I liked the store ideas but, I would have liked to see more of of it.

Awesome sci-fi

MARS: The Martian Autonomous Republic of Sol (The New Frontiers Series, Book 5). I stumbled onto this series with book 4 and unusually really got into the book (despite being the middle of the series). Couldn't wait for book 5 and here it is - Even better than 4, read/listened to it in two sittings I couldn't put it down. There are no detailed battles against aliens or anyone else, it is however more of a political thriller set on Mars. Gripping and tense.
Narration by Tom Lennon is excellent and I hope he does the rest of the series.
A perfect gift for the holiday season.

Would have been a story from the Tom Swift stories of the 1920’s.

I am into the 5th book. I will continue listening since I am trying to cover the SciFi genre of novels as both a personal hobby and potential academic study. But while this story line is interesting in general, the writing is very stilted with pendantic narrative and dialogue. The problem is made worse by the narration. I hear this and it sounds exactly like my second grade teacher in reading class. While the narration is technically correct, there is absolutely no true emotional content. Every word is precisely enunciated, but delivery is at a mechanical pacing, without any real inflection. I have compared this with other books by the author using different narrators, and I can say the writing is fairly good. But the narrator is wrong for this material. I would suggest something more academic/tutorial as the subject for future book narrations. I do not mean to be harsh, but I truly have not heard narration like this since the Gutenberg audiobooks of Tom Swift which were read by volunteer readers that often changed from chapter to chapter. I will continue to buy the audiobooks to complete my studies, but they are bordering on painful in the delivery of the story. Sorry for being hard about this, but I believe it needs to be discussed for those planning on getting into this series.
