About this listen
Children are born with the sweetest innocence in the sense that everyone is the same. As they begin to grow, society begins to change their perspective on the category in which they fall. As adults, we try to help them understand that being different is okay. However, as we turn on the television, it is hard to hide them from these labels. In this audiobook, Luna, a real dog, tells her story of how she has found where and how she belongs.
In this story, I share how she and I found each other, the obstacles she faced on this journey, and the fears that she may have felt as her role changed. All categories of people who read this story will be able to relate, understand, and smile knowing that they are not alone in this world.

People who are not in the habit of talking with the dead have a hard time imagining what Matt Fraser’s life is like. Based on the questions he gets, they seem to think he spends most of his time sitting cross-legged in a trance, maybe hovering a few inches off the ground, leaving his physical body behind as he journeys across the veil to the spirit realm. But it’s not like that at all.

Suddenly in the spotlight, 24-year-old Hannah Brown realized that she wasn’t sure what she wanted. After years of competing in beauty pageants, and then starring on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, she had become incredibly visible. There she was, in her early twenties, with millions around the world examining and weighing in on her every decision. She found herself wondering what it would mean to live on her terms. What it would mean to stop seeking approval from others and decide - for the first time - what it was she wanted from her own life.

Story
We live in a world of near-universal acceptance that once our lives on the Earth come to an end, we continue to a greater world. Whether that destination is called heaven, nirvana, or simply the other side, tradition teaches us that there is, in most cases, a fairy-tale ending to life, a place where joy and harmony reign supreme. Yet, as this book attests, there is still more to heaven and Earth than is dreamt of in our philosophies.

While some of the people Kathie Lee has spoken with do not share her belief that Jesus is the Messiah - as prophesied for centuries by prophets in the Hebrew scriptures - they nonetheless have a universal fascination with him.

Being broken doesn't keep you from being loved
The basic premise of this short story is that having disabilities doesn't keep you from being loved. It's a cute and sometimes heart wrenching story about Luna's road to being adopted.
Lynn Carnefix pronounces all the words clearly, although I'm personally not a fan of how high pitched her Luna voice is, it's a minor gripe that doesn't ruin the story.

Unexpectedly meaningful
I requested a copy of this book expecting some cutesy disposable story to keep my kids happy in the car. I mean, come on, it's about becoming a princess and has a picture of dogs. My best case scenario was happy kids and me not toooo annoyed.
What I got was wholly unexpected.
I'm so pleased that this book exists. One of my children also has an extreme and obvious physical difference so I very much have a dog in this fight (pun intended). I'm looking forward to sharing Luna's story soon with my kids.
As an added bonus, the friendly deep southern narration was delightful.

Experience the adoption of a three-legged dog
Ever want to crawl inside the head of a three-legged dog waiting to be adopted? Here is your chance. This looks to be the first installment of a series of stories about a dog who is different and a little self-conscious, but who manages to be found by someone who will love her. A tale as old as time!
A charming narrator with a southern drawl. My northern ears had to speed up the playback and it still sounded like I was in a formal dining room in South Alabama talking to real southern belle about her experience as a three-legged dog.
Fun beginning to a story.

Lordy Mercy
So I got this book along with several other children's books for my granddaughter. At 5 years old she likes to hear a bedtime story before going to sleep. I thought this book would be excellent for her because the moral of the story is that it is okay to be different. Well she wasn't too thrilled with this one. The story line is actually really good and I personally thought the book taught a very good lesson.
However, the overwhelming Southern Drawl and high pitched voice of the narrator was more than a five year old wants to hear when trying to go to bed. I have to agree.
5 stars for the storyline.
3 starts for the performance.

Cutesy
This story seems to be written for preschool age children. It's a telling of the adventures of a little dog, written from it's perspective.
