About this listen

My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn't understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice, and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I'd made the right decision. I loved him, and I always had.

Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I'd ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I'd ever known.

That's where my story should have ended.

Almost three years, one beautiful little girl, and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man who would always hold my heart.

The only question was...

Would I give it to him?

I'm Katy Michaels, and this is my story.

Couldn’t finish

The narrator was great. The story was started out good. But getting towards the end just couldn’t handle the whining of the main character. Just became too much to hear the same thing over and over beating herself up again and again.

Great story line and love story!

Wish she wouldn't have married Bobby, when she was so in love with Brooks! I hated how much she pushed Brooks away too, that got irritating

Compassionate Ending

Katy's life appears to be in constant tragedy, without growing a heart of stone. Amazingly she is able to find logic behind those that wrong her and stay strong to the ties that bind. Watch-out for the steaminess.

Hate the female lead

This was one of the worst books ever. If I had used a credit on it, I would have done a return. The female lead is one of the stupidest characters I have ever met. She destroyed this book.

A Book's Suicide

The main thing going for this book is the premise. It's a good one but then it all goes to hell when we get past the first third of the book. Character motivation is confusing. The main character herself isn't sympathetic. Behaviors are inconsistent which leads to disbelief in the characters. I just couldn't buy into it all. Maybe the story is possible but the author failed to create a scenario that was plausible. Narration was ok but nothing would save this book's suicide.

Unlikeable female character

The story started great and I loved the premise, but the female character kept jumping to conclusions and making life altering decisions for not just a herself but others. Then she'd do it all over again in another circumstance. I get fallacy of reason, but that litterally was the only obstical for the entire book, her own stupidity. When she hung up before hearing what happened to Brooks, I was done with the book.
