About this listen

Two hearts in the darkness...

Makenna James and Caden Grayson have been inseparable since the day they were trapped in a pitch-black elevator and found acceptance and love in the arms of a stranger. Makenna hopes that night put them on the path to forever - which can't happen until she introduces her tattooed, pierced, and scarred boyfriend to her father and three over-protective brothers.

Must fight for love in the light...

Haunted by a childhood tragedy and the loss of his family, Caden never thought he'd find the love he shares with Makenna. But the deeper he falls, the more he fears the devastation sure to come if he ever lost her, too. When meeting her family doesn't go smoothly, Caden questions whether Makenna deserves someone better, stronger, and just more...normal. Maybe they're just too different - and he's far too damaged, after all...

spoiler alert

Spoiler alert!

I would have given the book 5 stars because I enjoyed how unique the story was, but the 3rd car accident was just too much. made the book seem almost melodramatic and over the top.

Hearts in Darkness Duet

Really great romance! I love the books that have sequels to them. I have avoided these befor I joined the Romance package with Amazon. Your authors rock!

Worth the wait

So excited for this book! I love the lead characters. The narrator does a great job of voice change for all characters.

Beautiful Conclusion

This story had a very powerful message behind the romance. It's horrible to see what power ptsd can have over an individual. Thankful for a grateful ending and for Grayson finding his way back to McKenna. I'm really happy for the lack of curse words but I had to give it 4 stars because it bothered me the continous use of Jesus and God. I'm a spiritual person and to me those words are holy and special. I wish authors would see that and be respectful.

Love in the Light

This was a satisfying ending to the the first book. I’m glad I finally got to finish the ending to Hearts in Darkness.

Stunning follow-up

This sequel could have gone many ways based on how there first book ended, but nothing could have surprised me more than this book. This book is a much more troubled romance than the first. It picks up 2 months after the elevator incident today brought them together. They are both secretly fighting deeper feelings for one other, though they find they want to share every spare moment in each other's company. **It's too soon to be love, right? I don't want to jinx a good thing and share the other off if they don't feel this deeply. ** The author does such a beautiful job portraying the characters emotions and insecurities. The reader can relate to the feelings, thus making them more relatable with the characters.
To add a twist, Caden suffers from PTSD from a childhood car accident. Stresses in the new relationship cause Caden to question everything and lead to a breakdown and spiraling depression caused by his PTSD. Some my think that the author made PTSD in to a bigger thing than it needed to be since it was in his childhood and should only be effected by cars, but it is a silent beast that grips every aspect of your life at anytime in your life and anything can trigger it. The author does such a wonderful job of seamlessly informing the reader about the frustrations living PTSD and loving someone with it. I like to think of this duet as romance books that also hit underlying issues (ie, judging someone by appearances, loving and living with someone with PTSD).

More than I expected

I loved both books in this series. The many reminders that looks can be deceiving and how well the author wrote about PTSD. Erin, the narrator, was absolutely great. Through her voice I could actually feel the emotions of the characters. She got inflections perfect. Thank you both for the story. This one will be with me for a while.
