A Great Memoir

Words cannot express how much I loved this! If you are a Lucy fan, you must experience this. I learned so many interesting things about her life and work that I never knew, and it made me love the person behind the comedienne! It takes you from Lucy's birth to about 1964, and it was fascinating to read about her childhood and the years before she became publicly known! The story was made even more personal due to the fact that it was narrated by her daughter, Lucie Arnaz. I finished it in one day. Definitely worth the money and time for any fan of Ms. Ball!

Spectacualr!

I cried, laughed and felt pangs Of nostalgia. This is the book all women should read... she broke so many rules in her life and we are better for it! If you are a fan of Lucy just listen to her daughter narrate her mother’s life. Lucie Arnaz is such a great narrator that I wish she would do more books!

What a nice find. Getting to know the wonderful Lucille Ball with the very appropriate reading by her daughter. I still love Lucy

Upbeat

I learned a lot about both Lucy and showbiz. The book is short, to the point, and while honest, also full of energetic joy. Lucy doesn't cover up her trials, but remains upbeat throughout. I was very happy it was not a trash Desi session. There's a lot to discover in this book about how early television worked, and the contribution I Love Lucy made not only to the culture, but to how television is made.

Forever an Icon

I loved this book! The insight into the Hollywood studio business side was enlightening and explains the underside of what precipitated the enduring bullying of studio heads.

What a sweet, sweet book!

I enjoyed everything about this book. Desi & Lucy were part of my childhood and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this autobiography. Luci Arnez was the perfect narrator for this poinet book. You could hear the love and warmth in her voice especially when imitating her Dad’s Cuban accent or her Mother’s humor. The book does not dismiss the difficult times but humanizes the entire family and made me love them even more. I learned so much about this lovely woman and Lucille Ball moved up many notches in my heart.

A great listen!

Hearing Lucille's first hand account, read by her daughter Lucie in her mother's tone was incredibe.

One of the great things about audio books is that when the author reads their own work they will sometimes add an extra bit of commentary throughout the book. Now, Lucille couldn't do this here, but it would have been a nice touch for Lucie to share a little here and there on her personal experiences and insights during the times of triumph and tragedy in Lucille's story.

This really was a great book and I enjoyed listening to her story!

Very interesting memoir. Tales of early N.Y.C. life and fashion every woman would be curious about. An extraordinary life recounted in a lullaby.

I LOVE Lucy!

After being a Lucy fan my entire life it was great to hear Lucy tell her story. She was a genius and created a dynasty as she raised a family. Her family was everything to her - her creative mind a true gift. I'm looking forward to listening to this book again! Her daughter does a wonderful job telling it.
