About this listen

Fate had repeatedly dealt Gracie and Dylan a losing hand at any chance for love.

From the first embarrassing moment their paths crossed, a budding relationship between Gracie Watson, a first-grade teacher, and Detective Dylan Sanders was met with one challenge after another.

The path to discover what love could mean for Gracie and Dylan slowly begins to form as they learn to trust again. Along with this, Gracie's best friend, Trish, and Dylan's partner, Justin, are locked in their own battle of sorts, vehemently denying the sexual chemistry drawing them together.

Dylan and Justin are the lead detectives investigating a major drug operation in the small town where Gracie and Trish were raised, and it's soon apparent the barriers they must overcome are more than any of them had bargained for.

Join Gracie, Dylan, Justin, and Trish as loyalties, friendships, and love are tested. A battle for everlasting love will be fought as hearts seek healing in the most unlikely of circumstances.

Great job

I loved this book! The main female characters were hilarious. A few laugh out loud moments.
Great plot and really easy to relate to the characters. The narrator did a beautiful job bring the story to life. I truly enjoyed this book :-)

Nice romance, but . . . .

Overall, it is a nice romance story with two likable characters. The narrator has a pleasant voice, but mispronounced SO MANY WORDS throughout the entire story, that it killed the joy of listening. This is just more evidence that there is must be no editorial oversight in the audio book business. It was so annoying that I will avoid any more books that Jennifer Bossio narrates.

Did not love

3.5 stars

I'm going to start my review as I usually do. I'll lead with the good then follow up with the bad.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. The relationships had me enjoying the recording. The best friends were the best of friends. Some of the things the characters say had me tickled. It was a cute story.

The bad ... I'm sorry to say there was bad. I don't know if there was an issue with the recording or if this happened in the novel but there was the initial "date" then suddenly they were in an established relationship with no detail for that. There were inconsistencies like this that deterred from the plot.

Something about the narrarator didn't sit well with me. Her voice was too sultry when it didn't call for it. Her intonations and choppy reading of the words didn't cause for an even flow in the beginning. It took some getting use to.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read. I might've enjoyed reading the book better. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE audio books. This one just didn't do it for me.

Fun & Mystery in a Contemporary Romance!

If you could sum up Love Heals the Heart in three words, what would they be?

Humorous, Adventurous, Romance

Any additional comments?

Love Heals the Heart is Diane Rose Duffy’s second novel (she has also published at least one children’s book). I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of this book. It’s a charming and funny contemporary romance with a little adventure thrown in for good measure.

Gracie Watson is a lifelong resident of her small town in Northern California. She leads a relatively quiet life while trying to avoid any more scandal than her divorce has already brought on. Being a first-grade teacher, she has to be careful about that sort of thing! I loved Gracie’s sense of humor. I could imagine her smirking with her snarky inner dialog. Gracie is a totally relatable character; she’d be a great friend--unless your idea of a good time is hiking and camping. She’s more of the spa and shopping type.

Dylan Sanders is a detective in a neighboring town. He’s a good-looking guy who attracts a lot of attention from women, but he’s had disastrous luck in the past and avoids relationships as a result. He feels safer just focusing on his job.

Secondary characters Trish and Justin, are Gracie’s and Dylan’s best friends, respectively. Both have strong personalities, and both are the sorts you want to have in your corner. Their feisty exchanges are fun; their attraction to each other is obvious to everyone but themselves.

Love Heals the Heart is fun and adventurous from Gracie’s and Dylan’s embarrassing first meeting to the end. How would you feel if you met a gorgeous guy while taking care of nature’s call in the woods? This book is filled with snark, humor, adventure and romance. The fun doesn’t stop at that first meeting, but Love Heals the Heart has more going on then just humor. Gracie and Dylan both carry a lot of baggage that becomes a hurdle for an intimate relationship. They have to overcome and overlook a lot and take the giant leap of faith in one another. Beyond that, there is the small issue of a local drug ring that Dylan and Justin have been pursuing.

Author Diane Rose Duffy’s Love Heals the Heart is an engaging read with plenty of action, angst and mystery. The love story and humor seal the deal for Love Heals the Heart being a good read.

Dismal

The whole book was awful, teenage stuff. This book needs to be removed from Audible.
