About this listen

Kidnapped, imprisoned, and experimented on for two years, Jared Armitage has lost the will to live. When his captors give him to another prisoner, one who can and probably will take Jared's life, he comes face to face with the most terrifying thing of all: hope.

Calder's warlock captors meant to turn him into a monster, and they nearly succeeded. Starved, desperate, and filled with rage, Calder hasn't cared about anyone in years. Until Jared. Together they have a chance at escape and Calder has someone to fight and kill for. To cherish. Someone he doesn't want to hurt.

Life after captivity isn't easy. Jared never wanted a mate like Calder, but he craves Calder's intense attention, his ability to take Jared apart . . . and then put him back together again. Even if their mate bond is only temporary.

But Calder's made a promise-one he'll die before he breaks-never to hurt Jared or let him be hurt. Unexpected enemies are lurking, targeting Jared, Calder's one weakness. Their intense bond-and maybe even love-are worth everything, and they're both willing to fight for it . . . or die trying.

Contains mature themes.

Love this series

This is truly one of my favorite series. I love Eliot Grayson's mix of drama and humor, sexy scenes and snarky banter. And Chris Chambers is the best, as always. I wish I could get him to narrate all my favorite books, for real.

Best of the series

I listened to the series out of order and left this one til last. I really liked all the stories but this one is the best by far. The emotional range is great.

Pre spleen removal Jared was an @.s.s.hole!

He was slightly better after the removal of his spleen lol...what I love about this mismatched couple is that they were both dominant men and one had to struggle but eventually learn to bend to the other. More often then not it seems even in M/M romance one of them appears to play the "female" role - either being described as a "twink" or likes wearing makeup and/or panties etc. That's fine if it floats your boat...it doesn't float mine lol... I enjoy watching 2 very masculine men on equal standing fall in love. But this aside...

I wasn't a fan of Chris Chambers at the start of this series but he has grown on me - once I realized I like his style once I sped him up a bit - I enjoyed "Lost and Bound" really loved how Calder and Jared met - even though it was through a horrendous circumstance. My only real complaint about the titles I've listened to thus far is there isn't enough shifting action outside of a 'battle' scene. I like to see more social shifting action...like running as a pack or shifting in play.

4 starz - worthy of a repeat listen

Character driven book, a true gem!

I loved the character progression of this story. Jared was a complete tool, power hungry, duplicitous, and self centered, until taken captive, tortured and experimented on. Two years later and his journey towards becoming someone new begins. Calder’s transformation is just as powerful, yet subtle. Beautiful writing with a plot that keeps the pace moving. Chris Chambers took a bit for me to enjoy. His narration is decent, but he pronounces ‘didn’t’ and a few other words so phonetically unusual from what I’m used to that it was distracting at first. I was also annoyed by breath intake sounds on the audio. I just ignored it and my brain eventually got used to it. He distinguished the character voices well, and had good inflection and emotional intonation.

Much better than the first book

This might be because I have only read one other book in this series, but I really feel like the author's skills have improved. The first part of the book was a little depressing because both of the characters were in such a high stress situation, but once you get pass that the book gets alot easier to get through.

Also the spice delivers.

Coming full circle

The author finally swung back to a relevant character spoken of in the first book, one we had come to hate and view as a terrible person, and this book finished fleshing out his redemption arc. It also expanded on the secret organization that has been hinted at throughout the series. All in all, this book was pretty good and a great next instalment. The narration is top notch and the voices are great. if you like this series, then you'll like this book.

Loved it!

I really loved this. It started of strong and gave all the things I love in these books. I do think what held it back from 5 stars was it seemed like most of their relationship was just sex for most of the book? I did love them together, but I would have liked a little more of them just getting to know each other after such horrible events. BUT I was still routing for them to figure it out.

A very nice series!

I am new to this author and have listened to all the books in the series up to this one. I think this may be my favorite book of the series so far but I have really enjoyed all of them. The narrator was new to me as well and I’m very happy to say he is also going on my favorites list. Happy listening!!
