About this listen

Four years after escaping her abusive ex-husband, Kim finally believes she's in control of her life and her emotions and she's determined to never risk either again with a man. She has a great home, a job as a security specialist which she loves, and Jake for a best friend. But things are a tad lonely in the sex department, so she decides to embark on a no-strings-affair with one of her hot co-workers. And who better to help her remember how to lure a man than her best friend?

Jake has wanted Kim from the moment he first saw her, but four years ago, she was too young and too damaged. So he kept her close and he kept her safe, offering her a job in his security company and the training to feel safe again, and he bided his time. But now, after the long wait, if she imagines he's going to stand by while she seduces some other guy.... Never going to happen.

Absolutely loved it and tbh Kat kinda nailed it. Her voice is perfect for every character!

Mind-blowing

I loved the story but I hated how the female character would reference to herself in the 3rd party way.

Disappointed

I feel like Kim kind of got the shitty end of the stick a lot of the time...her whole problem was that she had been controlled in her previous marriage and she’s clearly been traumatized by it. Instead of trying to help her through this and assuring her he won’t do that, Jake manipulates, cajoles, and downright guilts her into being with him. THEN her father, who had essentially abandoned her, doesn’t really apologize or even see if she’s okay, just tells her she should be with Jake and to make sure he thinks he’s in control. What the actual hell?? I will not be reading any more by this author.

The narrator was decent - I don’t want my low review to reflect her performance. It’s purely because of the characters and plot.

Wait...what?

Was challenging in many parts for this book to keep my attention. the story line could be good but just not executed well.

Ok, but too much rambling on
