About this listen
David Binder is a young, successful writer living in Chicago and suffering from writer's block. He stares at the blank page, and the blank page stares back - until inspiration strikes in the form of a ghost story that captivated him as a child. With his pregnant wife and young daughter in tow, he sets out to explore the myth of Virginia Beale, Faery Queen of the Haunted Dell. But as his investigation takes him deeper and deeper into the legacy of blood and violence that casts its shadow over the old Beale farm, Binder finds himself obsessed with a force that's as wicked as it is seductive.
A stirring literary rendition of Tennessee's famed Curse of the Bell Witch, Little Sister Death skillfully toes the line between Southern Gothic and horror and further cements William Gay's legacy as not only one of the South's finest writers but among the best that American literature has to offer.

Story
Few authors write with such sheer love of story and language as T. C. Boyle, and that is nowhere more evident than in his inventive, wickedly funny, and always entertaining short stories. Here are 14 new tales previously unpublished in book form. By turns mythic and realistic, farcical and tragic, ironic and moving, Boyle's stories have mapped a wide range of human emotions. The stories here reflect his maturing themes.

Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

The book did have an ending.
I did read the past reviews and noticed they say no ending. It did. You just had to really know I guess. I was born and raised in this area so maybe I just understood .

Great narration, disappointing ending
What happened at the end? I listened to it twice, but it fell pretty flat both times. Maybe there’s a chapter or two missing? Or… we’ll, I have to get the printed book to read more carefully.
Great narration, though.

Disappointing end
The ending really just petered out. Parts of the story were so amazing but as a whole it seemed to switch to a lower gear just as it was getting revved up. And as a William Gay fan this just felt unfinished.
