About this listen

Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice - until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone.

That same night, an alchemist's apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable.

Will's mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po, and it draws the three of them together on an extraordinary journey.

From New York Times best-selling author Lauren Oliver comes a luminous and magnificent novel that glows with rare magic, ghostly wonders, and a true friendship that lights even the darkest of places.

Magically Beautiful

An awesome narration of a young girl's quest. A tale of villains, victors and friendships entwined with magic, ghosts and adventures. I found myself trying to guess and speculate the ending but never once came close. The end was better than imagined! Thanks for a great book and fantastic narration. Each complex character was brought to life by the voices and accents of the narrator. Congratulations on a job very well done.

Ok, so I like the narrator more than the story..... cute story, a bit weird in parts but likable. Jim's the best though!

Jim Dale hits a home run again, wonderful listen

Any additional comments?

First of all, I find myself hunting Jim Dale books just so I can listen to his superb narrating. He is absolutely excellent, and if this is your first book read by him, prepare to be sucked in.

The story is wonderfully lighthearted and cleverly unfolds. You fall in love with Po and Bundle almost instantly, and happily anticipate the adventure that ensues. The last few lines of the book create an ending that will make you smile.

Its a short read that is worth every penny and minute.

Cute

It was a sweet story that I think a lot of us can relate to in some way or another. I like her exploration of action and reaction and interaction. There are some really good lines in this book. Lauren's stuff for younger readers transcends age and reminds us of the more important things in life.

Magical.

Leisl and Po is the story of an unlikely friendship between a forgotten little girl and a ghost. It takes place in a world where magic can happen. Although the intended audience for the book is younger than Lauren Oliver's typical audience, she delivers her characteristic strong and complex plot - trusting her readers to have the imagination to follow along. Jim Dale's reading of the book is breathtaking. He brings each character to life in a unique and delightful way. I would recommend this book not just for young adults, but for all readers. It will remind you of how magical an experience a good book can be.

Engaging

Would you consider the audio edition of Liesl & Po to be better than the print version?

I think the audio version would be better than the print version because of the narrator. I enjoyed the brogue.

Any additional comments?

I felt the book was enjoyable. It was a young person's suggested book, but I think anyone would enjoy reading it.
