About this listen

Curvy Meredith is hiding in plain sight. A gardening teacher for troubled teens, she needs the new owner of the old YWCA building to renew her lease. Her non-profit after school program can't fund a more expensive location. Steeling herself for a confrontation, she discovers the owner is Liam Conroy, the Alpha Bear whose father was murdered 15 years ago.

Liam doesn't know his mate is the daughter of his father's killer. All he knows is he wants the gentle, courageous beauty - and that she is an answer to a problem plaguing his den. Only he senses she is hiding something from him, something that could threaten their fledgling matebond.

When he discovers her deception, will he reject her, and their baby?

Love and forgiveness

I did try the whispersyc with this book and could not get that feature to work. That is not the authors fault but Amazons, I sure. So I just followed in the ebook listening to the audio and took notes as I went. I thought the narrator did a great job.

All in all I truly liked the story. There was a few things I would of changed. There are something I would of loved to seen the author go in more detail. There were also times were I felt the story skipped and I would have to take a moment and pause and make sure I didn’t miss something. I wished the author would of put a design or something in-between those paragraphs to help me know there was going to be such a big change. Is it a book I would recommend, obsoletely. I would of changed chapter 16 a little. I felt like part is 16 should of been an epilogue.

All in all I truly loved the characters in the story. Meredith was truly a brave and strong woman. She shows you can rise up against all odds and against your past. I can not imagine what it was like to carry that much guilt, hurt, and bitterness around of so long. Than to start to fall for the man who lost his father due to your dad. Yeah that had to be hard. Meredith was raised to hate shifters. I would have loved to seen more of the inward battle she went through on excepting Liam or at least seen a reason why she went for him so quickly.

I loved Meredith’s compassion. She loved helping trouble teens. She ran something called Teens and Greens. This was to help give the trouble teens something to do besides get into trouble. She had a special place in her heart for one called Brick.

I liked Brick. She is one teenager that had been through a lot. Brick truly appreciated and respected Meredith. She almost looked at her like family and felt the need to almost look out for Meredith.

Liam was a true alpha. He had compassion but he also was very territorial and dominate. Liam was one that hated humans. He was chosen to be one of the shifters that had to take a human mate. I think it was perfect to start the series with him because who better to be the first in the lottery to take a human mate then the alpha of the clan. I could understand Liam more giving into Meredith due to in most shifter books it is the animal who recognizes their mate and battles with the human side. Shifters can not help but feel that strong pull.

I loved Liam’s mother, Gwenafar. She truly was an amazing woman. I found her strength very upliftings. She truly was a fine example of how someone should be.

I did not like Norelle in the book. I understand her hurt but she was not a character that won me over. Maybe as I read the other books in the series things will change, but who knows.

I do have plan to read the other books in the series and will probably do the audio as well just hope the whispersyc works next time.

Human female, male bear

The Publisher’s Summary is pretty accurate for this story; and to determine if you’re interested.
It has just enough complexity to keep from slipping into fluff land. Keep in mind that Liam is the bear.
Spear does an ok job of narration.

Fun read

This booki is fun to read. It's not comical but different and unusual. It's what I think of as a romantic drama. The narration is good.

Good but the storyline is a little much in places

There are things in this book that are honestly great pieces of a story. The parts that make up the conflict and drama are very strong. The relationship tension parts are good, too. My only real problems lie in the over the top hero. It's just a bit much that he's a billionaire, and a good guy, and an aspiring chef, and generous, and... you get the point. None of that is distracting enough to make it less than a good read. It was fun and worth a few hours of my time.

He shifts

Romance and secrets are the main ingredients along with a restaurant, a chef and a bear.
