A New Set of Wings!
When disaster strikes a cargo flight over the arctic, pilot Andre decides it's time to upload. He pays to have his brain sliced and scanned so his mind can live in the computerized, virtual world of Talespace.
Since Talespace runs on the logic of a game, Andre takes full advantage. He becomes a high-flying pegasus learning the magic of the sky and battling monsters for the Night Queen. He's even in time for a fun little war. The real world is still out there, though. To protect his new home, Andre will need to change more than his body, and seek adventure that blurs the line between fantasy and reality.
A novel in the emerging LitRPG genre, combining hard science with games and fantasy. Learning To Fly is part of the Thousand Tales series, but no knowledge of it is needed. Dive in here!

I enjoyed this book. If you have liked other books in the Thousand Tales universe, mind uploading, advanced AI, tranformations, pegasuses and unicorns, you will enjoy this one as well.
The Thousand Tales universe includes a virtual utopian world (Thousand Tales) running on servers that people can access via tablets, VR pods, or uploading their minds.
In this book, the main character, Diver, decides to be uploaded to the Thousand Tales digital world. He visits the Hoofland realm and becomes a Pegasus. He has a variety of adventures, in which he finds out what it is like to experience a transformation, has a little romance, searches for purpose in life, explores what it means to be human/more than human, and attempts to protect the land to ensure all can pursue happiness. He also has to fight against a person looking to get a discount on uploading by nefarious means. I liked how the book explores questions that are larger than the plotline itself.
