Very useful and upbeat. I highly recommend it to improve your French. I plan to listen to and practice with it again.

Excellent Language Course for the Audible Audience

Where does Learn French: Ultimate Getting Started with French Box Set, Lessons 1-55 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's the best French audio course I have ever taken.

This course is designed for people looking to learn French, but who need to do this primarily via audio. While the instruction guide is very good, they do an excellent job of teaching the content effectively through the audio instruction, giving the listener essential vocabulary that is spoken at both the speed of a native speaker and a slower speed the learner can digest. Excellent job!

Yes. I found it very useful. I haven't studied French for many years, and this helped me to quickly re-learn much that I had forgotten, and more.

The story covered many situations that a visitor would encounter.

Pleasant conversation. Serious, informative and playful at times - not overly so.

Virginie and Eric do a great job of interacting back and forth while teaching the material clearly. Her voice is perfection.

This is the only audio language book I've listened to.

Honestly, I could listen to Virginie speak in any language on any subject.

Great easy lessons that are easy to follow!

If you could sum up Learn French: Ultimate Getting Started with French Box Set, Lessons 1-55 in three words, what would they be?

Great for beginners and intermediate speakers. Great way to review stuff you learned previously or learn for the first time. Very clear and well done/

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it would be too much to take in if you tried to do it all in one sitting.

My only issue was that not all words in the dialogues are reviewed. I would have preferred that every word and phrase be dissected and explained.

There is content, but TOTALY disorganized..

I am so tempted to return this. There seems to be a lot of material, but completely disorganised. Whole audio chapters repeated. Even the PDF file is a big blob. It is 487 pages long with no Table of contents. It does have a long list of Book Marks, but only one or two of the Book Marks links work. how can this be so hard ?

update: after getting used to how it is laid out, i am finding this useful. the 25 or so lessons with conversations are very very good. i have picked up a lot from them. Note- I am taking these lessons after completing Paul Nobel's lesson, which gave a very strong foundation.

Useful French Launchpad

I have read negative comments that I found unjustified. I think people should take this for what it is. I already know some French, so I found this one useful, engaging and well thought out.

Disappointment

What disappointed you about Learn French: Ultimate Getting Started with French Box Set, Lessons 1-55?

If you want to learn how to speak English with a rather cute French accent, this is the audiobook for you, but if you want to start your journey learning to speak French this wiil not help you much. After 13 chapters I have learnt to greet and to count and have had to listen to dialogue in English; interesting snippets about France and French society but nothing to set my on the road to SPEAKING French.

Would you ever listen to anything by Innovative Language Learning again?

Yes, perhaps the advanced lessons are better.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrator?

Narrators are fine, if only they spoke more French.

The long English dialogues.

Love the program, hate the choice of lessons

I recognize the program from a podcast I listen to, a very good one. The narrators are excellent and informative, and I've always wanted to purchase more of their lessons.

However, when it comes to the lessons Innovative Language Learning chose to include in this "ultimate getting started" box set, I was very disappointed.

A huge chunk of these 55 lessons (I'd say somewhere around ~20, very rough guess) don't actually include ANY lessons on speaking French, but rather information like French pop culture icons, French politics, etc. The program starts off well with lessons about pronunciation and grammar, then for some bizarre reason all you end up learning is how French government works etc.

This isn't "Learning French"--it's helpful but it's not at all what was advertised.
