Great way to learn French!

I love this book, however in some sections the volume level of the French speaker is SO much lower than the English speaker that you can barely hear her at all. This book would be much better if the volume of the French speaker was turned up to the same level as the English speaker. It would be much easier to study this book if I could hear what the French that is being spoken.

Great Idea; Terrible execution

The format is simple enough: words & short phrases given in English, then repeated twice in French. it's a great idea to acccustom one's ear to French and expand vocabulary. it isn't a language instruction course, but a supplemental tool for acquisition or refresh.

The problem is that the English & French are recorded separately and then edited together. The French speaker aspirates vowels and speaks softly so is hard to understand. Then there is the problem that the speakers get out of synch: the French phrase will appear before the English, or worse, the French and English are totally unrelated with the English speaker reading one set of phrases and the French speaker giving totally different phrases.

Finally, the production is terrible. Several chapters are recorded with so little gain that the French cannot be distinguished at all, even with maximum volume. As a production note, any spoken recording needs to be recorded with high gain, high bypass filter, and considerable conoression-- especially for language learning where the "shapes" of syllables need to be distinguished.

in short, the poor production values renders much of the recording useless. The mixing up and at times incorrect phrases being read makes it worse than useless.

A waste of money & Audible should remove the title.

I was casually listening through while awake and noticed mistakes

On chapter 6 around the 35 min mark I was awake and noticed that the English word didn't match the french translation... so if any thing is sticking while I am sleeping is probably wrong :/

Not as advertised!

Not only is this book a piece of crap, it is in Spanish! It is not French!
