Publisher's summary
A southern belle accidentally falls for a northern spy in this sweet and swoon-worthy, opposites-attract romance!
To escape the bitter division of loyalties in her family during the war, Anna Kate Monroe accepts an invitation to serve as a companion to her spinster aunt in Cedar Falls, Texas. She meets a handsome fellow traveler, whose charming company makes the long train ride west an adventure she doesn't want to end. Even more surprising is the discovery that they are heading to the same small town.
Captain Gregory Armstrong has been sent undercover from the north to investigate the claim that several prominent southern families are financing a major supply route to enemy troops. When his investigation leads him straight to Anna Kate’s doorstep, he has no choice but to follow her and his suspicions all the way to Cedar Falls. To explain his presence, he pretends to be a potential new investor in a profitable western railroad spur.
As the evidence mounts against his lovely target and her family, he grapples with an unexpected attraction to her that will test his mettle as both a spy and a gentleman of honor.
This book was previously part of the Lawkeepers Series and has since been rewritten and re-edited to launch the BRIDES OF CEDAR FALLS — uplifting historical romance stories full of faith, hope, love, and cowboys!

Story
Viscount Simon Thackery has never really been interested in marriage. Of course, he will have to marry one day but he’s rather reluctant to find himself a suitable wife in among the ton. Unfortunately, he’s agreed to host his cousin, Sophia, for the Season but when she appears with her companion, Miss Clara Dynes, Simon can sense there is trouble brewing. Miss Dynes is young, beautiful and certainly not old enough to be anyone’s companion! So why is she hiding with the wallflowers instead of searching for a husband of her own? What is it that she’s so afraid of? And when things turn...

Wonderful Story!!!
Book Review: What a lovely story! This is the first story from this author that I have listened to and I will definitely listen to another... I couldn't wait to get back to the book any time I had to leave it, lol. The story was well written and there wasn't a single dull moment. There was great twists and turns in the storyline but the ending was superb and brought happy tears to my eyes :) Based on just this book, I can recommend this author if you enjoy getting wonderfully lost in an quick-paced romantic suspense that will have you asking, "What happens next?!" :D
Performance Review: Although the story was WONDERFUL, I am personally not a fan...AT ALL...of virtual voice. I have had to listen to virtual voice more than I care to lately and have heard the difference between regular "virtual voice" and "virtual voice that is computer generated for audiobooks." In my opinion, the latter is much better, but regardless, I don't want to listen to a female robot. I feel that my Siri assistant on my phone is more realistic sounding...as well as the robot sound takes away from the story line at various times in the book.
