Publisher's summary
Promises kept and promises broken.
When Ella Jamison’s father gets in trouble with the law, he offers up his only daughter to get the Texas ranger on his trail to look the other way. Fear over what might become of her father if arrested obligates Ella to go along with his plan.
Isaiah Hayes doesn’t accept bribes, but his concern for Miss Jamison, should he leave her to Mr. Jamison’s abuse, compels Isaiah to accept the offer.
While investigating the Christmas Eve hangings and Christmas Day massacre, Isaiah tries to make Ella comfortable in his meager dwelling. Ella battles her fears as she tries to adjust to a new home with a man she fears, almost as much as the father who gave her away.
Promises are made to broken, aren’t they?

Story
Eight years ago I fell into a secret summer fling with my best friend’s little sister before our lives went in different directions. Now, I’m the grumpy to Juliet’s sunshine on a popular dating podcast we host, and when a wealthy fan gives us a charming coastal cottage as the biggest thank you ever, we head to the town where I grew up to give it a makeover. And find the house has only one bed. Located under a mirrored ceiling.

This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

Beckett: If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have. I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride. My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart.

This is a short quick easy to follow book. Isaiah is a Texas Ranger. He comes across a girl being abused. He married her to keep her safe. But he fell for her fast. She grew to want him to. He is after whoever done some hangings. The book kept me interested in Isaiah and Ella getting used to each other and Isaiah doing his job. Jami McClure does a good job narrating this book. Christian Historical Romance
This was a delightful story! The only thing I didn’t like was that it ended too soon! The narrator did a fine job and I though her character voices were quite insightful! From rough and roundly to shy and demure, there was a lot of variety and personality in each!
