About this listen
Last Stop, Ground Floor is a horror-thriller novel about a young man who learns that spending eternity in the place of eternal punishment for the crimes he committed during his lifetime wasn't what he expected, nor what he could have imagined. It didn't surprise Nick that he ended up in hell for what he'd done, but he wasn't prepared to follow the rules.
Following his execution, Nick is escorted through the caverns of the underworld by Jeffrey, his host, who will introduce the young man to others that have arrived before him. Jeffrey will attempt to teach Nick that there are rules to the underworld that must be followed, the same as there were basic rules in life that Nick always chose to ignore.
Nick will be shown the horrors of what others now endure as a result of their poor life choices. He will also be shown how those horrors can grow far worse if he doesn't play by the masters rules.
The question is, will Nick pay attention? Will he heed the hints and warnings that his mentor is providing? Will he recognize in himself, or through others, just why it was that he was sent to hell? Or, will Nick ignore what everyone is attempting to show him and try to play by his own rules for the rest of his eternity?

Loved the Story
I grew up reading true crime stories so as soon as heard Brenda Spencer's name, my ears perked up. As the story moved along, the author used names or descriptions. I was identifying who they were and their crimes. I'm pretty sure I know who Nick was. But I love listening to books and the narrator has to be one that can keep me engaged. This narrator at the beginning was very monotone, I guess you could say. It was hard to stay focused, it felt like a lecture instead of a narration. But later in the story, he put more emotion into it and made the story better. I loved the storyline and the twist at the end. Very enjoyable book.

Intense and interesting!!
This book is so intense and pretty horrifying!! (In the best way!!) The writing and overall storytelling is so vivid and graphic, that I pictured every crazy and scary part of the story in my mind!
There’s some very deep underlying meanings and situations in this book. It’s not just about how you live your life, but also how you will continue on in death as well. Sometimes it takes a lot more convincing to show others their wrong doings!
I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a fantastic job telling the story!

Last Stop, Ground Floor
I think that we have all wondered if a truly evil person is punished for their deeds, either here on Earth or after they die. The author has explored this concept through this book.
Nick steps off of an elevator and finds himself in the depths of Hell. He is greeted by a man named Jeffrey who has been sent to guide him to the room he will live in for eternity. As the pair travels through the endless hallways, Nick's curiosity and endless questions get him in trouble. The reader is introduced to serial killers, evil dictators, Physicians who inflicted horrendous "medical treatments" on innocent victims and more.
The idea behind the book is unique and I enjoyed parts of it. I read a lot of true crime books and the inclusion of some of the more notorious serial killers was enjoyable. The idea of having a punishment unique to each person and absolutely no pleasure was somewhat satisfying when you consider why these people were there.
However, I found the endless descriptions of the punishments to be a bit much. Gory, gruesome and often nauseating acts were a large part of the book. The author seemed to be trying to convince the reader (along with Nick) of the errors of an evil life, but there was no redemption for anyone in the book. No likeable characters (understandable), which I often have a hard time with when I am reading. The book reminded me of Dante's Inferno with the different levels of punishment.
The narrator did a good job and was easy to follow. All in all, if you enjoy your horror with a lot of violence, you will probably like this one.

Very unique take on hell.
Story took a while to build. However, It definitely ramps up at the end. Unfortunately, it felt repetitive many times with topics being drawn out and a lack of word variation.

A fun trip through Hell
Last Stop, Ground Floor follows Nick who is a recently executed criminal who finds himself in Hell. Upon arrival he is greeted by his guide, Jeffrey. The story follows Nick through his journey in Hell and all the “fun” things that take place. There is torture, and plenty of gore! This was a different take on hell and what happens in the afterlife. Fun read!

Interesting Take on the Afterlife
The story started out a little flat for me, but I feel it was actually the narrator and not the story itself. I had a hard time getting past the whine of the main character. In the end, it all tied together nicely though. I am glad I did not give up on it. Essentially, it’s a deep dive into the musings of what actions here on earth will gain you an all-inclusive pass to Hell for eternity. Parts of the narrative had me really questioning, which was enjoyable. The twist at the end was also unexpected and it did also help tie up some more annoyances I had with the characters early on (can’t say too much here for fear of spoilers). If you’re here reading this, I’d say give it a shot.

not for me
preachy, condescending, pompous with a more of a feeling of being talked at than actual storytelling. the author's intention is clearly defined in the prologue. I am sure there are some that will connect with this one but it was definitely not for me as I fought through to the end.
