First listening
The story is a good one. The number of characters makes it a little confusing at first. The part concerning the amount of firewood was a stretch. The desert is a very harsh environment and the battle with the Indians seems extremely accurate. I’ll listen again and see if the story flows more smoothly.

One Of My Favorite Stories
Sad that so many had to die, but if all had lived this would have been nothing other than a boring fairytale . I am enjoying the freedom afforded to have someone else read to me and my eyes do better for the rest, Thank You.

Epic story telling, perfect ending.
Didn’t want it to end. Huge L’Amour fan but can’t say this about all of his books. This one will become one of your favorites. Narrator sounds like a cowboy but in an annoying way. (If you listen to a lot of western books you know what I mean). Solid 5 stars.

Most entertaining!
An excellent concept and setting for the interplay of L'Amour's characters. Delivery and plot are fast moving, and the outcome and denuement are satisfying to the longtime fan of these works. I enjoyed the Sacketts series and many other of his novels, but this one is a concise piece which really makes the reader/ listener pay attention without the need to follow long and deep connections across continents and time. would be a great intro for new Lamour fans.
