La pell de la revolta és una novel·la històrica ambientada al 1905. La ficció i la realitat s'hi entrellacen en el marc dels esdeveniments de la Setmana Tràgica de Barcelona. Després de patir un accident a la fàbrica de la Colònia Güell, un nen d'11 anys es debat entre la vida i la mort. El capellà de la colònia, els fills del patró i els obrers de la fàbrica ofereixen la seva pell per salvar la vida del nen.
Aquest fet canviarà la vida de la fàbrica i de la família Vidal, formada pel pare, la mare i els seus quatre fills. Mentre l’Esteve dona la seva pell per salvar al nen, en Ventura no. Aquest, per contra, se’n va a Barcelona i lluita per sobreviure en els anys que desembocaran a la Setmana Tràgica. Aquesta novel·la és un testimoni d'un moment clau en la història de Barcelona i d'Espanya, i va ser agraciada amb el Premi Néstor Luján de Novel·la Històrica el 2004.
Jordi Sierra i Fabra va néixer a Barcelona el 26 de juliol de 1947. És conegut per la seva obra com a escriptor de literatura infantil i juvenil i el seu treball com a periodista musical. La seva vocació d'escriptor és clara i ferma des de molt petit: confessa que va fer els seus primers passos amb tan sols vuit anys d'edat i als dotze anys ja va escriure la seva primera novel·la llarga, de cinc-centes pàgines.
Malgrat la seva clara vocació, no comptava amb l'aprovació o l'entusiasme dels seus pares, que en acabar el batxillerat el van obligar a treballar en una empresa de construcció durant el dia i a estudiar per ser aparellador durant la nit.
De la seva infància ha dit que "vaig ser tres vegades reprimit: pel meu pare, pel règim i per l'escola franquista". Tot i així, la seva determinació i la seva tenacitat són més fortes que qualsevol obstacle i les seves insistents cartes setmanals a la cadena de ràdio Cadena Ser el van portar a convertir-se en un dels fundadors de la revista "El Gran Musical" el 1968.
El 1970 va poder abandonar els estudis per convertir-se en comentarista musical, la qual cosa li va permetre viatjar per tot el món amb grups i artistes del moment mentre cobria les seves actuacions i escrivia reportatges.
