Sinopsis:Mi nombre es Bufón y os quiero contar mis aventuras. Éstas comenzaron cuando perdí la cómoda y tranquila vida que tenía. Fue tras un desgraciado revés, uno de esos que hacen tambalearse tu mundo entero de la noche a la mañana y consiguen que termines solo, abandonado y despojado de cualquier posesión.
Cuando ya creía que mi destino era la mendicidad o el latrocinio, la suerte hará que encuentre un inusual trabajo como escudero. Sin embargo, no me devolverá la estabilidad que tanto añoraba porque mi nuevo señor tendrá un objetivo muy distinto: él quiere ser un héroe, y me arrastrará a las más alocadas y estúpidas aventuras en su afán por conseguirlo.
Pronto descubriré que será muy complicado seguir el recto sendero de los héroes, tal y como se suele narrar en las viejas baladas y leyendas. Para sobrevivir habrá que tomar difíciles elecciones morales que, irremediablemente, nos alejarán de cualquier ideal honorable. Y es que cuando el hambre aprieta, hay que morder o morir.
