Not Your Average Audiobook
Justin Holcomb does not read us his book on the Creeds and Councils of the Early Christian Church, but rather he gives us an excellent summary of the material in the book and gives more detail than could be included in the book. You should buy both. The book is a great summary of the Creeds and Councils and the audiobook fills out the corners so to speak. His delivery could be a little more interesting. Sometimes he sounds like he is simply reading from a page, but the material is interesting and useful. The Creeds of the Church were brief statements of doctrine designed for use in worship, rituals (such as baptism) or education (such as new convert classes) in a time when the majority of the people were illiterate and/or did not own a Bible. The Councils were the meetings of Church officials to iron out doctrinal and practical differences.
