An international crime syndicate, smuggling, bootlegging, counterfeiting, murder and more. Learn about the history of spycraft in knitting. I’ll be looking up Gary’s other book series!

A Thrilling Mystery Across Continents

I absolutely loved Knitting in Jamaica! This book is a perfect blend of mystery, adventure, and rich character development. The story kicks off with the shocking murder of Sean’s grandmother in San Francisco, which immediately pulls you in. The plot twists and turns as Sean and his girlfriend become targets of people who believe they’re in possession of something incredibly valuable. What follows is a thrilling chase that spans from San Francisco to Jamaica to Scotland, keeping the suspense high throughout.

The characters are one of the highlights of the book. Each one is distinctive and brings something unique to the table. Sean is a relatable protagonist, torn between grief and the need to protect himself and his loved ones. His relationship with his girlfriend is also well-developed, adding a layer of emotional depth to the action. And then there’s the intriguing cast of secondary characters—some shady, some helpful—who make the journey all the more interesting.

What really sets Knitting in Jamaica apart is its setting. From the vibrant streets of San Francisco to the lush landscapes of Jamaica and the eerie, atmospheric vibe of Scotland, the locations play a huge role in creating tension and keeping you on the edge of your seat. The way the author weaves the different environments into the story is fantastic, and the narration on Audible brings it all to life. The pacing is just right, with plenty of action and suspense, but also moments of introspection and character development.

The mystery itself is cleverly constructed, with red herrings and surprises that keep you guessing until the very end. I found myself constantly trying to piece together the clues alongside Sean, and I was definitely not disappointed with the conclusion.

Overall, if you’re into murder mysteries with a bit of adventure, suspense, and great characters, Knitting in Jamaica is a must-read (or in this case, must-listen)! Highly recommended.

Oh my, there is a lot more than knitting going on!

I have been knitting all my life and was beyond pleased to hear so much rich knitting history in what turns out to be a murder mystery that’s got it all and a lot more. Fast-paced, with some twists I never saw coming. And the narrator, OMG, is wonderful. I couldn’t wait to get back and listen to it.
