Lucien Di Laurier is a cocky bastard who thinks I'm an object to be owned. It doesn't help that he's impossibly beautiful and can literally control the air in my lungs with a wave of his hand. He wants to get his revenge on the king, and that's why he's after the princess... never realizing that I'm right there, in his home, pretending to be my maid. He vows to break me until I tell him all of my secrets, but that still doesn't stop me.

He'll kill me if he finds out my real name. He'll probably do worse things before that, but I can't help myself. He's everything I was never allowed to have. He's blinding light and passion and life, the perfect mistake wrapped up in a pretty ribbon, just for me.

So I take what I can get, even knowing how it will all end... until it does.

the plot is spicy and super interesting!!

I loved that even though it was a single narrator, they didn't try to overdo their voice when they narrated other characters. just enough to tell a difference! the plot grips you from the beginning, and I can't wait to get into the second book!!

Moving, unpredictable story!

Amazing performance telling this wonderful story! I came across this and what a find! I am officially a new fan of this author and look forward to listening to more of her books.

I love a good plot with twists

This book has a good plot. it is a slow burn but when it heats up shew it heated up. It had some great twists a couple I didn't expect or went a different way than I expected. Starting book 2 now.

Dragon and spice a good combo

I think I'll give the book a 3.75 ⭐ rating and a 3 🌶️ spice rating. It wasn't a bad book I was just a little confused with the beginning of the book but I definitely will read the next book in the series. I can definitely recommend that you read and listen to the audiobook. The narrator did bring the characters to life.

Couldn't Stop Listening!

This was the first book in a while that I couldn't stop listening too! I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for the entirety of the book and super eager to get more answers! The narration was great, definitely no complaints about that. The spicy scenes were detailed and more realistic than most other fantasy books I've read, all while staying very steamy.

straight intrigue

My first urban fantasy. Which was strange at first but it was so subtle that it wasn't overwhelming. So good for story, plot, characters & spice, etc.. I throughly enjoyed it. Used whispersync on my kindle app & Amelia Hugh did amazing at bringing the story to life.

interesting and enjoyable

honestly the only thing I didn't like was the sex scenes. it felt like they were in the story for word count only. they didn't progress the story. they weren't even interesting. basic spiciness you can find in any smut. the rest of the story however was quite interesting and engaging. I would love to see where the characters end up.

This story had a good plot, but I just didn’t care for the MFC as much.
