POW!

From the beginning it packs a wallop. Family. Cops. Change of venue that still manages to be home. Friends. History. Sex. Deceit. Friendship. Adaptation. Confidence. Skill. Law. This one has it all.

I am a huge fan of this series. Also on A and E TV but books are not the same as the show so do them both.

Cady is hurt and Walt goes to her side, and solves the mystery. Along the way he learns more about Vic. Henry shows up and helps. Even Dog is there. Good plot but it's not the plot that makes this book, it's the characters. They are finely drawn and full of life with all it's beauty, mystery and heart.

I liked this one very much. Superior use of your credit. Keep reading. The whole darn series is this way. It sneaks up on you and sticks with you, making you better for having read it.

Philadelphia: Where no good deed goes unpunished.

Justice or revenge. Those were Longmire's choices after Cady was attacked and left with severe brain damage. I have a daughter. I found the interaction between Walt and his daughter in a coma beyond touching. I cannot imagine facing this situation.

There was plenty of action with bad guys and crooked lawyers dropping like flies. Our hero had a few close calls as well and came away cut and bruised.

We get aquainted with the family Maretti. Vic's beautiful mom. Vic the Father, Vic the son and Vic the Holy Terror. The Holy Terror is our Vic of course.

And the start of a romance.

A variation on the location theme

As written in the story, I am not sure that Walt has a sidekick in Henry or that Henry has a sidekick in Walt. These two are very much a pair of detectives.

Wyoming is a far way from Philadelphia and the ways of city life. I think Henry and Walt did a pretty good job of living the city life because crime is the same everywhere. The nuances are different but a crime is still a crime.

Walt's daughter was focal in this story and she didn't have much of a speaking part. Victoria laid claim to her boss and told her mother she would not share. Dog was still an important part of Walt's life and he made himself useful.

None of this would come to life without George Guidall.

What other book might you compare Kindness Goes Unpunished to and why?

This is my second in the series. I don't really have a comparison because the uniqueness of the characters is unlike anything else I have read. Like one of the other reviewers who would have thought a story about a sheriff and an Indian could make for unbelievable crime mysteries.

Which scene was your favorite?

The car chase towards the end of the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well without giving anything away....when the photo comes on the daughter's computer.

Any additional comments?

Being from Philadelphia I loved all the scenes and thinking about the characters being so out of place in the City. That was a wonderful part of the book. This is my second in this series and I am immediately downloading the third. The humor and the wit in these books often has be laughing out loud which is hard to make me do. I like almost any crime mystery books. This for sure so far is my favorite series.

Walt goes to Philly

At first it was strange to have Walt & company running around an eastern metropolitan area, but the characters stayed true to themselves. It was also enlightening to learn more about Vic's family- explains a lot.

A wonderful woven mystery

Have just recently discovered Craig Johnson's Longmire series. The story keeps me intrigued and George Guidall is my favorite narrator. Between the story and the narrator I am engrossed and don't want the story to end.

I loved this book, the author obviously has a great sense of humor and the narrator is WONDERFUL! Great Read, lots of smiling when I listened to this one! I've listened to all of the books in this series so far and am anxiously awaiting the next one! Thanks Craig and George!

Outstanding

Another great Longmire adventure. Getting the next book after this review. The narrator is spot on for Walt.

Perpetual entertainment for the soul.

These stories are perpetually entertaining. And the characters feel like family. I imagine I will listen to the entire series. It is comfort food to quiet my soul.
