Publisher's summary
Amy Sholes has a problem. An obsession. She's a murderer. A talented and prolific serial killer.
To most, Amy is a monster--evil, a cancer on her soul. But to many, she is an angel, avenging, serving justice and helping those who could not help themselves.
One rule, Amy only kills those who prey on others.
Beautiful and sexy, Amy is a killer you'll want to root for.
Book 1 follows Amy's Affair with Murder. She succumbs to the seductive draw of a dark society, risking everything for a little taste. Her desires lead her into a thrilling world filled with twists and turns so intoxicating that she loses sight of who she is.
Soon, Amy is living two lives--a dangerous juggling act in which one misstep could destroy her and shatter the family she loves. But her newfound obsession has bled into her family's lives, jeopardizing everything.
Amy's husband is a police detective, and some of Amy's adventures have showed up on his desk. She's determined to keep her two worlds separate, and finds herself tangled in a deep web of lies, telling one after another to throw off the suspicions of the man she loves and to save who they are.
Amy knows people live for the idea that their fantasies can come true. The question she begins to ask: should they?
From the USA Today bestselling author B.R. Spangler comes a heart-thumping thriller with twists you’ll never see coming. Perfect for fans of Dexter, Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Allison and James Price move to the navy-blue forests of Concordia, Idaho, hoping to leave behind the chaos of Los Angeles and the painful memories of his indiscretions. Once settled in the picturesque town, where time seems to have stalled and life moves at a slower pace, their six-year-old daughter, Reagan, befriends a mysterious young girl who seems too idyllic to be true with her pressed pinafores and perfectly curled pigtails. One late autumn evening, as their playdate winds down, both girls vanish into thin air.

I can’t even listen
I can’t even finish an entire book. I tried to forget it was read by “Virtual Voice” but that is impossible. I guess it has been improved somewhat, but it will never replace an actual human narrator. Maybe it could work on self-help or instruction-type books, but so much is lost in the relaying of the story because AI doesn't understand feelings or sarcasm. “Brain matter was everywhere,” would be said in the same tone as “I picked up a loaf of bread.”
