About this listen

When Karen Grace turned 50, she lost her marriage and her job. Now, she's starting over, and this time, she's determined to build a new life on her own terms.

However, she's being pulled in multiple directions: Her family and friends want more of her time, her hometown sweetheart wants a commitment, and her fledgling business is on life support. With the hard-won confidence of midlife, Karen knows what she needs to do, and pays the heartbreaking price for pursuing her dreams. While grieving that decision, another challenge lands: Frieda's granddaughter arrives on her doorstep in Key Largo, pleading for refuge.

In this life-affirming sequel to Dakota Blues, Karen Grace completes her journey, deciding what can be saved and what must be jettisoned as she navigates passage into the second half of her life.

Life decisions at 50 are just as difficult as in your 20’s

I love this author’s realistic view of life. Her characters are vivid, make human mistakes, struggle with life decisions, change their mind about things and just kept me so entertained that I couldn’t put the book down.

Key Largo Blues

Key Largo Blues
: Lynne M. Spreen

When I started listening I didn't realize this is a sequel to Dakota Blues. It is an intriguing story of strong women banding together to help each other and pass on their knowledge to a single young mother trying to escape domestic violence. A really good story line.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Jennifer Jill Araya brings the characters to life.

More Mature Romances Like This Are Needed

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Most romance writers just don’t understand that 40 is the new 30... 50 is the new 35, and 60 follows suite. I listen to lines about the old 40-something woman... OMG. I suppose that seems ancient to a writers in their 20’s, but if they’d do the research they’d find that most women sexually PEAK in their 40’s-50’s. It doesn’t just abruptly end after that.

Being older than Karen, single, and still 18 inside, I found the entire cast of women refreshing. A woman driven book, it covers the ups and downs of girls from very young to very old, handled with humor and understanding. I have not read the first book but it’s not necessary as Key Largo Blues is a very stable stand alone with a bevy of emotions and HEA.

Jennifer Jill Araya is so very talented in her rendering but she does have a young voice.

👍🏻👍🏻 TWO THUMBS UP

A great story

If you are looking for great stories featuring mature women, then definitely check out this series. I didn't read book one, but I enjoyed this second book in the series.

Romance in the Middle of Life

This is the second time I've read this book--the second book in the Karen Grace trilogy. This time I listened to it and thoroughly enjoyed the second time around. I enjoy the varied ages and personalities and back-stories of each of the characters, but I really like Karen Grace best of all. I'm looking forward to purchasing the trilogy for my sister-in-law, who will love it! Well done, author and narrator. Home run!

Fun and interesting characters

I got this audio book from the author for an honest review. I liked this book but was a little confused at first it started with one character Jessie and then did not mention her for a third of the book, but was very interesting and full of fun characters. It is mostly about a group of women who travel around the country together in motorhomes and Rv's and their relationship with each other.

Midlife Crisis

Great story of heartbreak, love, grief and second chances! Narration was great and she brought the characters to life! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and/or author and/or narrator in exchange for an honest review.

Loved the Details

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This is a great story that has several stories included. When it first started I was not a fan but as the story evolved I got caught up in the lives of the characters. There were two HEAs but so much more. The relationship with the CRS ladies and how they saved Jessie and her daughter Sunshine really touched me. Loved the role the dead grandmother played. The last two chapters were great.Loved the scene when she walked into the lecture hall directly on stage. The humor was good. The middle and end of the book were better than the beginning. The narrator was great.
