About this listen

Mourinho is both a sumptuous celebration of The Special One's managerial career so far, and an enigmatic insight into his unique brand of football (soccer) wisdom and philosophy.

In the legendary manager's very first audiobook, and in his own images and captions, José Mourinho charts the peaks and troughs of the opening 15 years of what has been a stellar rise to the summit of the global game.

Excellent read

As a coach myself, I love getting into the minds of other coaches. Jose is a manager who presents differently than he actually is. I loved learning of Jose the man. Fantastic book.

Narrator sounds like he is drunk sometimes

Good story but the narrator sounds like drunk at times. Waiting for a real biography by Mourinho himself

Great anecdotes, but a bit lacking

A wonderful performance and interesting, revealing anecdotes but this is not the book to learn of Mourinho's upbringing in the game, his influences or how he developed his unique perspectives and strategies within the game itself. The book did an excellent job of humanizing Mourinho and showing the depth of the man himself.

It’s more journalism than literature

Well written enough. There are some interesting facts, but too much of it is about the author’s own ambitions and therefore not entirely what the title suggests.

it's a Chelsea story on Jose

very well written and narrated. but it's all about Chelsea, I thought it was more abyjose and his life, not just his time with Chelsea. great if you're a Chelsea fan, but most of us are not

The Difficult One

A compelling account of the managerial career of José Mourinho (The Special One) from journalist Robert Beasley. The two developed a friendship during Mourinho’s time at Chelsea. Beasley often received breaking news from Mourinho. The most fascinating story to me was Mourinho‘s interest in the England job that never materialized. Mourinho was one of the most sought after managers in European football, but with him comes nonsense. From his feud with Roman Abramovich to the incident when he pushed Arsene Wenger, he seemed to thrive on controversy. The self proclaimed “Special One” never stays anywhere long.
