About this listen

Joan of Arc was declared a saint in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV, who called her a “most brilliantly shining light of God.” From her story emerges a persona that millions, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, have come to regard as the embodiment of courage and faith.

A terrific account of Joan Of Arcs' life. I knew some of the more popular facts but not the historical time frame or overall significance of her life in France and England for that matter. I am inspired.

I have read some of Wyatt North's work. Now, after listening to this I want to listen to them all. I got so much more out of it. Lawrence F. Yaklin did an outstanding job bringing it all to life in a way that was interesting & true to the content.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this account, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

I really enjoyed all the details and personality

This book highlights the period and involvement of Joan of Arc, national heroine of France, in defending her country against English. Wyatt North never fails to provide a completely detailed historical backdrop, and a complex persona, for his topics. My only complaint is that it's too short.

Basic bio, uninspiring

This was mediocre at best. It gave me the most basic building blocks of an idea about St. Joan’s life and death, but in the driest most boating and academic way possible. The narrator almost sounds like a robot and is stilted and mechanical. But if this is your only choice and you just need basic info, it will suffice.

Excellent account of the life and trial of Joan

Excellent account of the life, spirituality, determination, actions and trial of Joan DeArc. Delivered in an easy to follow, concise record without opinion or speculation (which are too often provided by authors of history thus polluting the information). The story was easy to follow as it was given in chronological order. Identities of individuals mentioned and the roles they played were easy to follow. Thank you to the author!

The narrator sounded automated. Maybe that helped me to grasp the sequence of events and keep the individuals clear in my mind as they are detailed in the story but it felt flat.

inspiring story!

It was as if I was watching a movie. i like that different angles to events and some back story or misconceptions were presented. even the events that happened after her death and its impact were described. narration was great as well. I was provided a free copy for this unbiased review.

OK, but should have been better.

The book provides an overly brief summary of many of the facts of Joan's life, but leaves out many details, and much of the meaning.

If you intend to narrate a book about Joan of Arc, you should make sure you know how to pronounce "la pucelle"!

Read Mark Twain's dramatized biography, or Paine's biography for a better account.
