About this listen

Raised by vampyre relatives, Jane grows to resent the lifestyle's effect on her upbringing. No sunlight, nighttime hours, and a diet of bloody red meat is no way for a mortal girl to live. Things change for Jane when the ghost of her uncle visits her, imparts her parents' slayer history, and charges her with the responsibility of striking out to find others of her kind and learn the slayer ways.

After trying her luck at a school full of zombies, Jane finds a position as a governess, where she meets and falls in love with Mr. Rochester. But evil strikes in the form of Mr. Rochester's first wife, a violent werewolf he keeps locked in the attic. Jane departs to study the slayer tradition with her cousins, but finds herself yearning to reunite with Mr. Rochester. She returns to find that Mr. Rochester has been bitten by the werewolf, and only she can release him from his curse.

A Lovely Surprise

When Pride and Prejudice and Zombies came out, I was excited. I was giddy with the thought that two of my beloved favorites would mesh, much like the pairing of peanut butter and chocolate, into a wonderful new creation. Insert face palm. Sherri Browning Erwin manages the feat: she seamlessly blends the paranormal into Bronte's classic tale in such a way that, if I didn't know better, I'd imagine that it had always been this way.

oddily enough

I love Jane! The book flowed easily like the author was channeling Charlotte Bronte when she wrote it. Although I know the original Jane well and have loved to read the it over and over again. I truely loved this adaption! The reader did and awesome job! Enjoy

Love the Book..But it puts me to sleep every time

Would you listen to Jane Slayre again? Why?

I really enjoyed the actual story in this book.. however. The narration puts me out like a light. Which is odd because other narration by Rosalyn Landor I have loved. Perhaps it is just the combination of the two. I will have to download the digital book to finish the story.

Droll

It had potential -- except it stole from too many other vampire, zombie, werewolf stories.

Jane Eyre at its best!!!!

I love the story of Jane Eyre it is one of my favorite classics. The fact that they were able to add all these extra elements to alter the story but at the same time stayed true to the story won me over. I wish they had made this into a movie verison rather than Pride, Prejudice and zombies.

Good story

i realized that I had never read Jane Eyre, the whole story that is. But I had seen movies so I just thought I had. This version is very enjoyable, the narrator is superb and for all who enjoy these old english stories, I can recommend this one, although a little bit bloody.

Fabulous! All I hoped it would be!

If you could sum up Jane Slayre in three words, what would they be?

Fun. Quirky. Endearing.

What other book might you compare Jane Slayre to and why?

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer.

What about Rosalyn Landor’s performance did you like?

Sincere approach to characters and no over-acting.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No....too long for that.

Any additional comments?

I'm not sure if someone who isn't familiar with the story of Jane Eyre would completely appreciate this novel, but they would still garner some entertainment from it.

fun

I really enjoyed much of Jane Eyre but the ending always bummed me out. this adaptation doesn't change that ending but it's more fun throughout (source material is super glum) so I minded the fact that she dedicated her life to a lying cad who cared more for his own happiness than her

A fun retelling

I really enjoyed this re-imagining of Jane Eyre; a nice mix of Jane meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
