About this listen

Jack Benny's supporting cast - his "gang" - was the heart, soul, and success of his radio program. Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Dennis Day, Frank Nelson, Mel Blanc, Artie Auerbach, and Ronald and Benita Colman delivered many of the best jokes - and earned biggest laughs - on the show.

Many members of this talented ensemble went on to star in programs of their own - always with Jack's support. This collection includes some of the gang's best work - both on and off of Benny's program.

This 10-hour digitally remastered collection includes episodes of classic comedies (including The Phil Harris - Alice Faye Show) and rare treats (including The Private Life of Rochester Van Jones).

Fun to hear his crew working on their own.

Interesting to see the cast being promoted by Jack. Nice to know he tried to spread his celebrity around for his friends. Truly a talented bunch of people. I enjoyed it for the history of his show alone, but good radio as well!

Jack Benny is missing in the majority

most of the Jack Benny chapters are not Jack Benny, wasted my time, very cautious now about other radio recordings

Not much Jack Benny here

Although there are a couple of Jack Benny episodes at the beginning, this is NOT a Jack Benny compendium. It's an attempt to "cash-in" on the Benny name. There are "Rochester" shows but some are just rehearsal tapes of different people repeateding the same few lines over and over again. Some of the shows are people who appeared on Benny but the shows here are not all comedies. I returned this "book" after listening to half of it - I realized I was starting to listen to an episode of "The Whistler" with only the most tenuous connection to Jack Benny. I have collected many Jack Benny radio shows through Audible. This is the only one that has been a disappointment.
