Acerca de esta escucha
A personal story promising laughs, surprises, tears, and joy, and guaranteed to warm your heart! When a grandmother embarked on a two-week travel adventure to Italy with her eighteen-year-old twin granddaughters, Margie Miklas’s long-awaited dream became a reality. Excited to share her beloved Italia, she hoped to create a special experience they’d treasure for the rest of their lives.
You’ll feel as if you’re traveling alongside them as they experience the thrills of a three-hour Vespa tour through Rome, design and paint artistic masks in Venice, observe skilled intarsia artisans at work in Sorrento, spend time with the cats of Torre Argentina, collect sea glass on the beaches of Positano, and learn to make authentic gelato in Sorrento. You’ll sense their joy on the nights they dance in Piazza Navona and wander through the darkened alleys in Venice. You’ll long for a taste of that delicious wood-fired pizza, and you might even wish you walked the sixty-five miles they traveled in Italy.
During this life-changing and unparalleled experience, their special, familial relationship strengthened into an even closer and profound connection. Two adolescents touched their grandmother’s heart in ways that left her the gift of cherished memories from this emotionally rewarding journey.

I felt like I was on the trip with them
Three round trip tickets to Italy, passport woes, spending time in Italy with your two 18 year year-old granddaughters… priceless! Margie led us through the streets of Italy highlighting well known tourist spots as well as local attractions. A once in a lifetime trip for sure! After reading this book, I would love to take my grandchildren to Italy when they are a bit older.

A Family Trip to Italy
Italy at Eighteen is a step-by-step account of a grandmother and her granddaughter’s Italian experience. It's not just about the jokes shared with their tour guide, the visits to cafes, stores, pizzerias, or the many other adventures. It's a journey that weaves together the experiences of this family. By the end, you'll see how this ‘trip of a lifetime’ for twin girls exposes them to new cultures and languages and bridges their teenage years and their first steps into adulthood. If you listen to the audio, as I did, the narration speed is enjoyable at 1.3.

A Heartwarming Must-Read
If you’re dreaming of Italy or want to see it through the eyes of a loving family, Italy at Eighteen is the perfect book. Margie Miklas’s heartfelt storytelling takes readers on an unforgettable journey as she shares her beloved Italy with her teenage twin grandchildren.
The trip is a sweet, authentic family adventure, beautifully brought to life by Miklas's vivid descriptions and warm narration.
Reading this book feels like traveling alongside the family, eagerly anticipating each new experience. The author’s emotional connection to Italy shines through, and her joy is contagious. By the end, readers will likely feel inspired to pack their bags and visit Italy themselves.
Miklas transports us to iconic spots like Rome, Venice, Positano, and Capri, and brings the magic of Italy alive with descriptions of gelato, local history, music, and the charm of Italian shopkeepers.
This book is a must-read for anyone who loves Italy and wants to experience it anew, even if only through the eyes of someone else.
I highly recommend Italy at Eighteen and all of Margie Miklas’s books. She is truly a talented writer.

Monotone.. sadly
I enjoyed the book and would have loved to read it myself. As I have travelled to the places in Italy, it was well written and felt we were travelling with the grandmother and 2 grand daughters. But the reading was flat and not engaging. Being it was a true story I continued listening. What a great family experience. I used to go places with my grandma so it was very relatable.
