About this listen

They are coming. The countdown has begun.

First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming. So the news has turned from evasion to triage, urging calm and offering the few facts they have:

The objects are enormous, perfectly round spheres numbering in the dozens, maybe hundreds. They are on an approach vector for Earth. And they will arrive in six days.

Just what I was looking for!

Loved the slow steady build to the climax of the book. Perfect reader. Can't wait for book 2.

Even perfect preparations fail...

Interesting approach to a doomsday scenario. Not a deep, complex story, but a fun listen. Interesting postulation on how or why a wealthy business mogul would prepare for an apocalypse event.
I love Ray Porter's narration!

action packed race to safety

I have to say that was absolutely amazing!! Full of action and adventure with quirky characters and high energy. great story about a man with a plan to save his family from an alien invasion and the people on earth who are totally freaked out. I have to say I enjoyed it all. The narrator was enjoyable most of the time his rendition of a female voice is a little disturbing but it was fine.
The only bummer here is that the rest of the series is not available on audibles right now. I am starting to see a trend here with the Sean Platt books. The series has been finished but the audibles have not.

Good book; but Audible leaves reader hanging.

What made the experience of listening to Invasion the most enjoyable?

Once again Audible offers it's readership the first book in a series but fails to come through in making the remaining books in the series available. It's like reading an entire book except for the last chapter; very unsatisfying.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Invasion?

Ditto 'The Fear Saga' by Stephen Moss. Book 1 but no books 2 or 3. Readers be cautious before purchasing anything with 'Book 1' in the title.Audible you do your customers a dis-service by offering only an introductory volume.
Would you offer 'The Fellowship of the Ring' without 'The Two Towers' and 'The Return of the King'?

Another Great Series!

I have been a big fan and follower of Sean Platt, and have been very happy with his choice of contributing authors. And this series is another great read/listen! This story was written well, narrated well, and left me begging for more! The worst part was having to wait for the next book to make it to Audible! ! So thank you for yet another AWESOME series to envelope my world, and thank you for making it possible to listen to it while I work! 5 thumbs up! !

Not really a Sci-Fi book as promised.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the category from science fiction to survivalist fiction.

Was Invasion worth the listening time?

It was not worth my time.

Any additional comments?

This book should not be categorized as Science Fiction. The title INVASION makes it sound like science fiction and Audible's summary does too but it's really all about a family of survivalists/preppers making their way from New York to Colorado to reach their survival bunker.

The promised "alien invasion" is simply a plot point to explain the emergency cross-county trip and the irrational behavior of the people they encounter along the way that want to steal their stuff - or worse.

The narrator's performance is excellent and those looking for survivalist fiction will likely be pleased with the story. Just don't expect any science fiction.

Really bad female voice acting

I generally like this narrator but the way he voices the female characters is dreadful. I hope to be able to stick with the story as it's interesting but it's difficult listening

Fun apocalypse story

I enjoyed this read pretty well. The characters are compelling and exaggerated without being unbelievable or unsympathetic.

I wish the story had spent less time from the perspective of antagonist characters.

Also, if I'm being totally blunt, I'd rather have season 3 of The Beam, but I'll probably read on anyway.
