A Cupcakes-and-Crime Caper

"I tell myself every day that I don't hate my job... But there's a reason I'm trying to leave the madness of the casino pit to become a Private Investigator."

"Winters will have you giggling into your book!"

Cupcake-loving croupier Tiffany Black is determined to leave her job at the casino for good. She's one small step away from acquiring her private investigator license and has her eye on the prize.

Accepting her first real case - investigating the murder of casino-mogul Ethan Becker - should be exciting. Instead, things spiral out of control, and Tiffany finds herself in over her head as she confronts secretive suspects, corrupt casino henchmen, and a bodyguard with a mysterious past.

Tiffany's poker-hustling Nanna and pushy parents want her to find a nice man and settle down, but Tiffany just wants to track down the real murderer before he finds her first....

Fun and hilarious

I decided to get this audiobook because - judging from the sample - it’s a fun story featuring an irreverent main character with a bit of an attitude. As usual, I read all the reviews on this page, and it made me less sure whether I would enjoy listening to this audiobook.

So, I listened to the sample a few more times then decided to get it during a 2-for-1 sale, aaaannnnddd … I do not regret getting this audiobook!

The main character is an inexperienced PI trainee. So, yes, she makes several bad decisions. Plus, her family and her client are quite outrageous. Overall, though, I like this book. It’s a fun humorous light mystery.

Interesting but not so deep. A fun time with good characters. I’ll be listening to more be this author.

Pretty good

I almost returned it after 45 minutes but decided to keep going. I think the narrator's voice was the reason I wanted to quit but I did like the fact that she sounded like she was telling the story and not reading it. The book turned out pretty good BUT at the end reminded me of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series without the humor.

Great narration & good ending

I loved the characters. They were easy enough to keep track of. She got herself into situations she had a hard time getting out of by unconventional means! Hilarious!

lack of common sense

character seemed silly -did not seem believable as a private
investigator. A PI would have research skills, defense skills, and would look up a police file not just go on what a client said
